Talking Ordered MY2002 Coupe today

Just thought I'd post because I'm feeling pleased with myself!!!!

July 4 order date, Sept build, November Delivery to Australia.

MY2002 Carrera Coupe
Basalt Black Metallic
Black interior
new style 18in wheels
Sports suspension
Full Carrera body kit
Bose sound system
Bi-Xenon head lights

I'll have to sell the 993 now...

oh, by the way, has any one heard that the MY2002 cars will change to a 997 designation? saw a spy pic of the 2002 Targa and the german number plate had 997 on it.

cheers

terry

Terry congrats on your order. I am on the waiting list to order a new targa. Are there new colors for MY 2002? Never heard of the black you ordered.

terry,

besides the new metallic black (basalt) can you tell us what other exterior color options are new for MY02? I'm looking forward to a different darker hued blue, other than lapiz (a bit too light). Congrats! I hear basalt is a big improvement over last year's "metallic black"

I've heard that along with Basalt Black, Carrera White will be replacing Biarritz White. All the other colors will remain the same.

If Lapis is too light for you, try Midnight Blue or Dark Blue.

I heard from CFG that the aero kit will not be available until Jan 2002. You might want to check your order periodically because there is a good chance that the aero kit that you ordered will not be accepted.

Congratulation on your order. The 996 is a phenomenal car. Question..are they putting Bose in Porsche's now? That would be a considerable improvement over the old hi fi system.

Just because it's Bose doesn't mean it's any good. Even Bose has different levels and the quality of sound will depend on the amount of money that the manufacturer wants to spend. A perfect example is a recent article comparing the Infiniti Q45 and the SL430 sport. Both systems are Bose but the sound of the Infiniti system blew the doors off of the Mercedes system. If the Bose system is anything like the Mercedes system, it won't be very spectacular. The main thing about these cars is the space limitations. There is no room for adequate woofer enclosures. A really nice system is the Mark Levinson system in the Lexus LS430. Believe it or not, another great system is the Infinity sytem in the Chrysler Town & Country Limited minivans. They use some huge drivers that really slam some bass. The system also has great mids and highs.

Sorry, I meant S430 sport not SL430.

The basalt black is a little "blacker" than the current metallic blank which to me looks a little like coca-cola! The metallic has a blue and silver fleck through it.

The blues looked to be the same as last year, so the only new colours I'm aware of were basalt black and cararra white. The white is closer to grand prix white than the "off white" they had last year.

Robert,

I'm getting the sides and rear, and will have the front bar installed once it is released. This is apparently the hold up according to my dealer. I've been told the sides and rear are locked in though.

cheers
