I just called "him"? There is only one guy there, at the moment anyway, and he is on another call....... Anyone ever buy the covers from Opert Racing? Any other way to get them?

You can also purchase the Techart headlight covers through your dealership. They should be the same thing.

Sloth, I went to the Techart website, and could not find anything remotely like the Strosek headlight cover. I will try my dealer, but they are pretty lame and I have EXTREMELY low expectations that there is anyone there with an IQ above room temp...........Can you point me to the Techart part number or some other reference?

Thanks a bunch......

I bought mine from Fred Opert. I wouldn't recommend them if I wasn't happy with the product and their customer service. I'm sure the TechArts are very nice too.

Rob, Did you install them yourself? Who did you have paint them? Dealer? They certainly look great, that is the look I am attempting to get. Anything to differentiate the nose from the 986.....

Yes I installed them myself, not too hard. My dealer sent them out ( to a local BMW shop) to have them painted, complimentary.

I did it to make my 996 look more like an older 911. Now that the 997 is rumored to bring back the round headlights, I predict lots of folks will do it to make their's look like the "new" 911.

BTW: The ones on ebay are for a car w/headlight washers and two holes instead of one for the fog light/turn signal.

Well I just tried Opert again. Got voice mail.......

Must be good if they are this hard to buy something from.......

I will keep trying. He should set up a contact point on his web site for processing parts orders. Would certainly save on my phone bill....

I can't check my records but I believe I bought mine directly from Strosek. I know I had Eric (the plug guy) paint them for me. Great match. I haven't seen them installed yet, but I did "tape" them to the headlights to get an idea of how they would look. Like Rob, I wanted the "retro" look because I loved the lights on my 993. I think the 02 lights look too ungainly. Anyway it's done..and we'll see.

Here's a not so good attempt at taping them on just for the effect. ..

and BTW, there is now 25" of snow in that drivewey almost covering those markers. Sure glad I'm in PR for the next month!

Thanks for the tip Tom 919. I think I bought them....There is a difference between these and the techart ones....4 openings instead of 2 (1 for the headlight washers)

Don What did you spend to get the job done? will you share that with me..?
