2002 996 C2 Keyless entry won't unlock doors!
I just got my new 2002 996 a few days ago. Love the car when I can get in it! Neither of two keys will unlock door. The red light just keeps blinking, is unresponsive. I can't get in to read owners manual, will call dealer tomorrow. Does anyone know what to do? Thanks.

I have an '02 cab that I got a month ago and have not experienced that problem. Try using the master key and see if that at least gets you in the car. Keep us posted.

Not sure if this is your problem, but here's something the manual points out: "Remote control function is switched off after 5 days if the vehicle is neither unlocked nor started during this period. In this case unlock the driver's door manually with key. If you do not switch on the ignition within 10 seconds, the alarm system will be triggered."

In the short run, you can unlock and disable the alarm by using one of the two master keys in the driver's side door and unlock the door which will also turn off the central locking system and alarm. You can lock and turn on the alarm system by using the key in the driver's door to lock the door. If your car has exceed the default timeout (5 days) to shut of the keyless entry to save the battery unlocking and starting the car once will re-enable this feature.
If this does not clear the problem, take the car to a dealer.

One other thing you may need to watch out for is pressing the lock button on the key twice when locking the car. I believe that doing so means you can unlock the door only from the inside (strange feature, to be sure). The owner's manual doesn't say whether you can get in by using the key manually in that circumstance.
