Brighter brake light bulbs

Probably better than brighter would be more pronounced, obvious, more attention getting.
Wire the "fog" light sections, left and right, to the brake light circuit and add bulbs. If you really want brighter then modify the bulb base (just crush the glass and clean out the rest) to hold 10 watt halogen bi-pin.
I use 50 watt halogen bi-pin in the driver's side backup light that way.

Anyone have any information on what that circuit (fuse/wire guage) uses? I did that mod briefly but it effectively doubles the load/amperage. I didn't want to be sitting in bad traffic one day and overheat something.

"...doubles the load/amperage....."
WOW, just how much time do you spend "on" the brakes??
Be that as it may you can buy LED bulbs from superbrightleds.com and reduce the overall current draw to about 10% of OEM.

I'm one of the newer guys here, so forgive this question if I'm overlooking something: do a lot of people mod the brake bulbs? - if so, why? You guys have done some amazing things with your cars and I'm learning about where I'll want to start to spend some money to change my car. But...do some of you eventually run out of stuff to modify and wind up tinkering with everything? - Sean

wwest - I understand your point - beauty is a pretty common thing on most of the modified cars here. I've been super impressed and I was not knocking the idea on the brighter brake bulbs - I was just curious as it sounded a little odd to a novice like myself. This site is helping me to learn a ton, but I have a kid, a second on the way, am buying a new house, and an investment property, so I'm trying to use this site to learn and prioritize some upcoming (mild) changes to put my own thumbprint on my car...can't do too much all at once or the wife will kill me.

Brighter brake lights would be nice to wake up those latte-drinking SUVs who think they are invincible and don't realize we can stop to a halt before they can put their cups down. We also are low and wide. Can they even see our brake lights?
