Replacing HiFi with Bose

Replacing HiFi with Bose
I have a 2000 C2 with HiFi. Is it possible to replace it with the Bose? I know, don't jump all over me about it being better to replace with aftermarket. I just may have access to some bose parts. What parts would I need? Is there a different Amp, Speakers and Head Unit? Is there a subwoofer, or are the door speaker used for bass? Can I use a 2002 or other year bose system?

You could only use a 2002, because the '03+ use the MOST system. If you're going to go through the trouble, there's much better stuff out there.

I have Bose and the subwoofer appears to be in the rear window shelf area. If I were in your shoes I would go for the Becker Monza, it's a headunit with mp3 and it looks like the stock cr23 headunit I have. I would also go for non-MOST and upgrade the amps and speakers to something more powerful; speakers would be focals. Bose uses 2ohm speakers and 1ohm base speakers, which is non-standard. Stay away from '03-04 MOST system and your upgrade options are much better. Good luck, let us know what you decide and pics too would be cool.

I think the Bose in my '02 C4S is (surprisingly) VERY good, and I'm an obsessed audiophile. Mark Levinson, B&W Signatures, $1000 power cords...you name it, I've got it. The Bose that was in my '04 Cayenne S was also quite good. Bose home audio is a completely different story , but they've done a superb job with Porsche.

johnlee...sorry but I totally disagree. I can't stand the Bose in my '03. It may very well be the worst car stereo I have ever owned. It is incredibly dissapointing.

I set the bass to 0 and the treble to +1 and fold down the rear seats. In this configuration, the Bose system sounds (for a car) remarkably neutral, with good dynamics and detail retrievel. It even images (to a degree). As a result, I find that well-recorded CD's really shine. Ok, the bass is not as tight and the high frequency extension is not as effortless compared with what I have at home, but for car audio, I'm impressed.
On the other hand, since I (recently) added the Porsche sport exhaust, the audio sound quality doesn't seem so important anymore .
