Intermittent wipers: modify timing
I am assuming that all 996 intermittents are like mine where the interval between swipes is so long, even at the highest speed setting, that its almost useless.
Can the timing on the intermittent wiper be changed (relay replacement, whatever)?
With the amount of rain we get in Florida, it would certainly be nice to have an intermittent feature that was effective.

Even when you use the dial to set the length between wipes, it's too long?

Yes its too long. At its shortest interval setting (all the way to the right) the intermittent timing is longer than any of our MB's or BMW's at their longest interval setting. Its pretty useless.

I never understood why they don't have the interval from slow to as fast as possible. Then when you have the stalk to intermittent the dial will adjust for any speed you like.
I've always had a problem with the wipers themselves. They seem way too light and tend to stutter or skip at times. This is less of a problem with my 2004, but my 2001 was miserable.

Guys,
I was doing a search for an old post and saw several similar threads on this topic for other models... I thnk your wipers are the same as the 928 version (check the relay - is it a 928.615.101.01?)
In any case I'd suspect even if it has been updated this will still work on a 996/986 also....

VW digital programmable intermittent relay is about $35 from internet parts places... rain sensor would also be nice, but assume there are some installation issues to handle (windshield sensor etc?)...

How can you tell if you have the rain-sensing wipers? They were not listed as an option on the car when I bought it, but the delay seems to change based on the rain - regardless of the setting of the dial.
