Minimum Octane Requirements
I've got an 05 C4S. The gas tank cover states to use gas with a minimum octane rating of 93. Although in California the highest octane available is 91.
What do I do? Is that bad for my car?

91 octane is fine since that is all you can get. The computer will adjust the timing if necessary to protect the engine from knocking. You will not benefit from the maximum performance of the engine while using 91 octane, but it will hardly be noticable. For spirited driving, some people mix 100 octane racing fuel to half a tank of the 91 gas which will give you about an octane of 95. This can get expensive. You can run 91 octane forever without any harm being done to the car.

Octane boosters are useless. They only boost octane a few "points". Upon further reading of fine print and/or manufacturer websites, you find that a point is defined as 1/10 of an octane number. FWIW, the octane boosters I've tried, there was no noticeable difference. Now, I do experience a noticeable difference when blending in 100 octane to get to around 93. I haven't tried a 95 blend.

Recommend you move out of California before they start charging you guys for each breath you take or put a tollbooth at the entrance of your garage.
Let's see....California has the most restrictive polution standards of anywhere n the country and they have the filthiest air anywhere in the country. The controls must be working?
