Default Short shift

What short shifter are you guys using?

I've been enjoying my 993tt over the last couple of weeks. Perfect driving weather in Florida this time of the year.

Long story short.

Upgraded my 996gt3 track car with a CAE shifter and it just transformed the car.
I really like my 993tt but the shifter feel is rather dissapinting, I have the "typical" sloppy and lot of movement feel even when gear is engaged.

Have googled a bit about the trouble of upgraded 4wd 993s, so reaching out to you guys for advice and recommendation.

FD Motorsports Golden Rod and short shift kit.

Thats what everyone seems to like. FD (Fister) seems to be the go to guy for our cars for most parts.

Get the FDM "Golden Rod", a short short kit, replace any worn bushings, and be done with it!!!!!

PO installed the FVD ssk on my car, very nice upgrade. However I think the kit from FD motorsport would be your best option it's priced well, the most popular on RL with all positive reviews too.

You should also consider upgrading the transmission mount, this would make things even more mechanical and positive. Although keep in mind with some added NVH.

Is your car 2wd converted? As I understand the CAE doesn't work with 4wd.

Thanks,

Trying to keep the 993tt as a possible date night car. But, can't stand the sloppy feel of the shifter. I have solid engine and trans mounts on my 996gt3 hooked up to the CAE shifter. It's absolutely amazing.

So if CAE isn't possible without 2wd conversion I'm leaning towards FD kit.

FD short shift and Golden rod. Great combo.

Would also ask if the "platinum" rod is still available.

If your car has OEM trans mount, get the FDM mount, GR, SSK, and your "date night" will go smoothly and firmly. :-)

definitely get the FDM short shifter vs. the stock RS shifter. i got a LARGE dimple in my center tunnel. Works fine, but concerns about scraping the dimple causing interference with the shifter.

Agree though, goldenrod, new plastic cups and, the FDM short shift and you should be all set.

FDM is an improvement, but it isn't much of a SSK; throws are still a mile long!

Smoothly and firmly is always good.

This is the route I will go, thanks for all your replies.
