"Data, not opinions rationalized or otherwise, measure and reflect the market"

I agree 100%. And according to Hagerty's data the '97's are valued $4,000 higher than the 96's

See for yourself

https://www.hagerty.com/apps/valuati...sche-911-Turbo

Enough said.

Wonder what the Rate of theft of air-cooled 911's is these days?

I'll trust a company with decades of experience as well as a database on hundred's of thousands (probably millions) of classic cars vs some biased dude sitting in his basement on a computer "guessing" on market values. All day, every day :

And by the way, KBB shows almost a $6,000 difference between the 96's and 97's. But, hey, why let actual FACTS get in the way ????

I don't know if this is just me, but the last time I checked if you call Hagerty or kelly blue book and tell them you want to sell your car they wouldn't write you a check for the amount their valuation tool shows.

Pull up the recent sales on Ebay, Look at the PCA website, look at auto trader, look at auction prices if you have access to Manheim. These cars (I have owned as many Turbos as anyone on here with the exception of 1-2 guys) are not more valuable in the MARKET being a 96 or 97.

There are exceptions to the rule, you may think that the 97 is worth more, people may think that and share the same opinion as you do. We live in America (most of us) and everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

The facts are (looking at sales for retail and at auction for wholesale) the cars sell for almost identical prices over the last 18 months to 2 years whether they are 96 or 97 models. The only exception to this is the Turbo S, which I think everyone would agree that those are worth a little more then the standard 993 turbo.

Not looking to break anyones chops, or cause an argument, but I've worked in the auto industry for 21 years, and have played with Porsches almost that entire time. I have a lot of experience and I am not pulling this info out of my ***, I am just trying to give my educated opinion and facts of what cars are selling for today and in recent history.

Do you really feel that a 96 w 20k miles, is worth more then a 97 w 20k miles if the cars are the same color and in the same condition?

Are you in the market to buy a car right now? I'm kidding.

I don't "feel" that way....it IS that way. And until you guys can find ACTUAL DATA POINTS (like I have) to prove me wrong then I suggest you take your emotional justifications and leave them at the door

My '96 has this light. Guess this makes it worth the same as a '97.

1998 C2S>1997 C2S
1997 turbo>1996 turbo
2008 gt3rs>2007 gt3rs
2009 Scuderia>2008 Scuderia
2015 Speciale>2014 Speciale

There are very minor differences between the two but may be it is just one of those "last year" thing.

The title of this song...perfect for this 1996 vs. 1997 993TT pricing debate:

mortgage crisis? perhaps it was 2007? Just remember it was less than 2 calendar years from model year 2005. so 1.5 years old? Recollect $hit hitting the fan around the time of that purchase.
