If you have the original mount, I'm sure it's toast (just through degradation). So I would get it, in lieu of an OEM mount.

Installed on my car a few weeks now, if you have an upgraded clutch like the RS, LFW setup etc, for my car at least the NVH and gear whine increased dramatically. I'm still undecided if I will even keep it on my car. However in terms of the feel while shifting, I will say it's quite noticeable and much more positive so that's a plus.

So keep this mind, my thoughts are with regular OEM clutch it won't be as bad but if your car is relatively quiet (stock exhaust etc) I'm sure you will notice some NVH.

Any my OEM mount was cracked too.

I've said it before, but NVH is over rated as an annoyance. If you were driving a Camry or Lincoln, then maybe. But a tool for great driving? Most "NVH" is character. :-)

The "FF" insert, only has as much integrity, as the rubber it's "inserted" into. If stock mount rubber has degraded (or is original) then the FF insert will flex with the failing rubber.
FDM mount is not much more than the FF inserts, I think :-)
Much better component as a whole.

How do you know if your OEM mount is shot?

It's a safe bet just based on # of years since new which is why I swapped mine, even with low miles on the car, mid 30's, I did see some slight cracks nothing alarming, just old looking rubber

I would assume it's pretty bad, if it's original. You would have to pull it out, if you don't visually notice tears, or cracking. They can be hard to see, and you'll need to put some torque on ot, to see if it deflects w/o and obvious tears/cracks. If it's 20 years old, I'd replace it with the FDM mount.

Honestly, when I replaced my 85k mile mount, there was some light cracking, and while I noticed a slight improvement with the new one for a few months, after that there was no difference.

The FF inserts work great and are not quite as stiff as this mount from my point of view.

After more driving hours thought I'd provide some additional feedback on my setup with FD mount, the overall feel is definitely much improved. You almost forget to what extent until you drive another 993 without it. Everything is pretty much as advertised, it's more mechanical, a better sense of connection and as mentioned before very positive when going into gear.

Also I don't why, but now when the motor is above 4K rpm I get noticeably more engine noise in the cabin as it revs to redline. Which is a plus cause it almost sounds like a NA motor.

Initially I complained about the NVH, however after spending more time I've grown to like it.
