Default New Mahle oil Filter ?

Hej hej

I Just had a case of smoke on start up.
Most likely culprit is Mahle filter....inside of a Porsche labelled box -_-
Now appartently Mahle has a new design with valve
99310720304 part nber
Anyone Heard of that ?

Not sure I want to be the guineapig so I ll order a 99310720303 through a Pcenter but may be interesting info if Mahle has a new design like my indi claims

it's friday and it's track day tomorrow

Mahle/Knetch havent made Porsche filters for along time, under the sticker they will be Mann

No sign of an 04 anywhere I can see. Purolater are making the 930 filters for Porsche, maybe they will take over the 993 versions too

Off the phone with local Porsche Center

Confirmed they had a the 99310720304 item in the part list but they had not noticed it before I asked. And never used it. Apparently listed as "Turbo only".

I ll go pick up my "03" on Friday with some luck I ll be able to take some pics.

As Vince says, the 04 is listed on PET as turbo only, I think this has only showed up in the last 6 months or so (date stamp on one above is August last year) I suspect Porsche have introduced this due to the Mann filter 03 not having the valve in it like the old Mahle ones did have and they acknowledge that turbos need it. So make sure you order the 04 for the crankcase filter for your turbo!

OK so the filter in the box is a Mahle OC-229, no PORSCHE label or marking on it at all

So save some $$ and just buy the OEM Mahle version!

Maybe ECS will cut another one open to see what the internals look like in the latest part revision to see the difference in materials used compared to the 03 version.
