Default problem with dual exhaust tips

I've had the diy exhaust for a bit and although I liked the dual tips, I've discovered an annoying problem. I have a gravel alley in the back to the part of the garage that I park the turbo in, and due to the low ride height and position of the tips behind the rear tire, gravel gets caught between the tips. They get really wedged in there as the metal cools... (the dual tips are kind of heavy too)

The shop I usually get 3" pipe were out of the 90 degree bends and I thought about just cutting straight pipe at various angles and making a 90, but decided I might take this opportunity to incorporate a small helmholtz-ish resonator. And use my old 4" cut pipe tips.

Used some flat black high temp paint that I 'cured' at 650 degrees in the BBQ...

Don't know if the small air pocket/steel wool really does anything and not sure the acute angle is good (I did add an angled baffle to direct the exhaust and isolate the air pocket) but I entertained myself for a few hours anyhoo...

Always hard to tell on video - how does your car sound now compared to the previous exhaust (which I have heard in person)?

Cheers,

Mike

^ it sounds similar but noticeably a few db quieter, especially at idle/lower rpms and in the garage. I can also play around with taking the wool out and taking the cap off (although it would open up into the fender).
Problem is cars always feel faster when louder...

How long do you expect that wool to last?

Given Basal primarily tracks his car, and it's very easy to get at, I do not think it matters. It does matter if it's stuffed inside a muffler though

And that is beauty of cooking your own exhaust - easy to fix, you know where to go to have the warranty honored!!

Quick question: I made my Laguna pipes with MC baffles in the ends. I'm at 88.6 db. How much more does adding steel wool, reduction do you think I'd get? Is it in pitch, or just over all sound deadening?

Where are you going to put the steel wool?
I think there's a couple of db change but I'll get the db meeter out and check at a couple of rpms, probably won't get to it until next weekend.

Once at the track, I pull my exhaust tips and bolt on the elbows/fangs. What I thought of, was packing some into it, before bolting it up. It would end up trapped inside by the baffle that's in the ends of the pipes. Whatdaya think?

These are the baffled ends. I'd shove the wool in on the opposite end, before bolting them on.
