993TT Service history and expectations.
I've been researching a 1996 993TT that seems to have quite a lot of service history. I plan to get a PPI, but I want to find out as much as I can before I get a PPI.
I was wondering if other 993TT owners would chime in to see what mileage they serviced their 993TT's for similar issues.
1st 30k miles - no service history. TMU, Seems common with these cars.
38k miles - oil & filter changed at dealerhship. dealership performed "W301" wiring harness TSB. New clutch was also done at this time but seems kind of early?
48k miles - CEL, dealer fixed loose hose
50k miles - Engine misfire, pistons #2 & #3 replaced by dealer.
54k miles - Right side wheel bearing and control arm replaced. Transmission rebuilt & differential replaced with aftermarket unit. All work done at dealership.
What aftermarket differentials are even available for the 993TT? This seems unusual to change.
57k PPI said turbos were replaced/rebuilt. Seems kind of early? possibly TMU cause?
anyone actively driving their 993TT's? Any advice other than having a spare DME relay?

I went with aftermarket LSD and mine was shot at 30k miles or even earlier perhaps.
Check if yours has the updated alternator pully done, otherwise get ready to see how the belt snap everytime.

That's interesting and varied work performed on the car. The 30k service includes plugs I believe, mine were done at 27k. Can't believe someone cooked a clutch in 30k
Suggestions while doing a ppi and leak down spring for new plugs, they'll be pulling them anyway . Change all belts with updated alt pulley as mentioned and check suspension components. Check the oil cooler and a/c fan resistor.

Bit unusual service history. Owner may have tracked the car. Doesn't necessarily mean its good or bad.
My car has 95k miles on it and its needed roughly $300 worth of repairs in the past 3.5 years. Maintenance has been very straightforward (brake fluid, oil changes, filters, etc).

Got one. I got the oil lines from Kevin at UMW as an upgrade/issue avoidance with oil passing the seals in turbo. This isn't cheap, but neither are turbos or anything else down stream. Turbo hoses, make sure upgraded ones and in good shape. Oh reach out to quad and figure out how he only spend 300 bucks in 3 years

1. downstream 02 sensor, $75
2. 2 front swaybar drop links (one was likely fine, but i replaced anyway) $100 each
3. Can of pentosin and a hose clamp.
Maintenance has been limited to:
Oil changes @ $110 per year
Plug change @ $50
Air Filter @ $25
Brake Fluid @ $15 per can, once a year.
Tranny fluid @ $75 every other year
