My AC turbos, including a special 993 TT/GT
Greetings from Switzerland.
First and foremost I would like to express my sincere appreciation for all the forum contributors whose contribution have enabled many new owners like me to gather so many useful info about our Porsches.
A little introduction.
I am the lucky owner of a few AC turbos, after a brief stint with a 996TT and 997 TT.
In the end I realised that I am more the AC-type of Porsche fan.
I own a 1977 930 3.0, all original in grand prix white; a 1993 964 turbo 3.6 with a few tasteful mods like PSS9 in Midnight Blue; a 1998 993 TT WLSII in Polar Silver, ... and now a rather unique 993 that I will describe in detail and ask your expert opinion about, in just a minute
First the "regular cars".
930 3.0 1977
964 turbo 3.6 1993
993 turbo WLS II 1998
A picture that brings together 30 years of single-turbo 911s
Now my latest acquisition and the most controversial car I have owned to date.
A 993 that has allegedly been built by a Porsche employee (who I met personally) starting from an original GT2 body in white from MY1998.
This car has been since its construction in 1999 in the hands of the Porsche employee and I just purchased it from him a few weeks ago.
I got some documentation with the car that should demonstrate how this particular body in white was created in a duplicate because the first one had a minor defect and that it was sold as a spare to the employee, who then purchased several GT2 components and a used 993TT engine to assemble a complete car outside Porsche with the assistance of the well known AC engine specialist RS Tuning.
Some pictures of this controversial beast.
Myself on the day of the purchase ...
It has the front and the rear deck lid of the 1995 EVO model, both original motorsport parts.
The yellow paint was done outside Porsche, as the original body was in Polarsilver.
Maybe I did a big mistake with purchasing this car, but I want to drive it around and this is the closest you could probably get to a GT2 and still have the peace of mind to drive on the road and on the circuit.
What do you think?

First of all, welcome to the forum!!
That looks like a great machine - and if you have documentation on the parts used, etc quite valuable. Of course, the purchase price is important to assess "if you made a mistake" - but it sure does not sound like it.
How does it drive? How does it compare to your 98 993TT? (silly question).
Cheers,
Mike

Hi Mike,
I just had limited opportunity to drive the GT (let me call it this way for the sake of simplicity) on the account of the roads being full of salt the day I test drove it.
I have not yet registered it under my name, so presently is still on "winter hibernation".
Anyhow is a very raw experience, very different from my 993 TT, closer to the 964 turbo.
The car itself is really a prototype, with the full GT2 suspensions front and rear on the GT2 original body but with the AWD and a custom viscouse coupling that I was told by the Porsche engineer was purchased by him from motorsport and used to be a works prototype transmission.
Picture of RS/GT type wheel hub with the AWD.
The engine is an RS Tuning with 716 Nm of torque at 5000 rpm ... should account for some nice progress!
Picture of the engine/transmission with motorsport oil cooler.

Three Wheelin'
How many 1998 993TT's did they make? I was under the impression they only made 96' and 97' but maybe that's all they imported into the states.
Great looking collection!!! I own a 993TT but I love the 964T as well, very pretty car. I think I would go off the road in a GT2 style car but the all wheel drive you have sure probably helps!!!
Cheers and thanks for sharing,
Bryan

+1 to all the comments. Great collection and now adding an "outlaw" 3TT to the stable is icing on the cake. Enjoy the car and share more pictures when there is better weather.

Thank you all.
My 993 wls II is one of the 222 built and number 590 of the 800 993tt produced in MY 98.
Still running strong and currently on a long weekend in Tuscany with Porsche Club Italia: nice roads, nice food, nice spring weather ..

Hello, just back from my trip to Tuscany: nice roads and delicious food ...
A couple of pictures ...
As far as the GT , the car has been given in 1999 the VIN from a 1997 turbo (a total write off from an accident) from which the engine was taken.
It still carries its original GT2 body number as can be seen in the picture below:
The picture is not very clear (sorry, I took it myself) but you can see the body number 1481977.
I was able to get confirmation from Porsche AG that this is indeed a number assigned to a 1998 993 GT2 body.
For your info, here below the torque graph from RS Tuning for this engine, looks pretty strong.
The car has an omologation weight of 1380 kg, including the awd.
