Tires to Match 996TT Hollow Spokes
I have now had the wheels sitting in the garage for too long and I am ready to order some tires.
I think I am going to go with Michelins. I am looking for input for size and exact model Michelins.
I was thinking 235/40/18 for the front and 295/30/18 for the rears.
I do not want to have a problem with rubbing and I don't NEED to have the biggest size possible, but rather, a good match.
PS2's or Sport Cups?
The car is a weekend toy and not tracked

Yes they are, but I got a great price on em. Maybe, I'll try the 315's next time around. Just didn't want to spend money on something that may not work. It's pretty tight with the 295's. Got less that an inch of room from lip. I know the 315's are about a 1/2" larger diameter, so about a 1/4" difference towards lip.

I have found that different manufacturers have different section widths for the same "315's". I run hoosier R6's as my track setup and put 275's up front & 315's rear without issue rubbing. Hoosier R6 in 275's have the same section width as MPSC's in a 265. TireRack does a good job of detailing that in their specs. (I never rolled fenders either). You will not have have any issue with a 245/295 setup on 996 twists. I would not put Pichelin Pilot Sport cups on a street car - they need heat to make grip. No need to put R comp tires on a street car. I have heard good things abt Pilot Super Sports as another choice. There are a lot of threads on tires on both 993 & 996 forums. I think the decision needs to be made from a purpose, preference, & price perspective.
