Default Looking for advice on a non stock TT that had damage

I'm looking at a TT that was on eBay. I'm interested in advice on value. Miles are low, around 39,000, but it had damage in the past and has been restored, but with performance parts rather than OEM. Here's the description, what are your thoughts on its ability to hold value and be a good investment? I plan to drive the car and enjoy it, but want one that will be a decent long term investment (I know investment is a bold word, but the 993 TT's are holding their value).

DESCRIPTION

Street legal ROCKET SHIP!!! Producing over 500HP from K-16 hybrid turbos this custom tuned Twin Turbo is an absolute monster! With over $40K in modifications this car is being offered at a fraction of the build cost. Comes with full records and receipts.

*** please note this car was damaged early in it's life and was professionally rebuilt to OEM standards with a brand new front clip.
For over 10 years it's had a CLEAN Vermont title with no damages/accidents.

The chassis is completely straight and has been proven on the track participating in DE events.

Please, do not bid if you want a concours condition car. This 993 Twin turbo has been customized and used properly with cosmetic scratches documenting it's use.
Listed below are some of it's key features:

Arctic Silver metallic
Black full leather interior
6 speed w/ RS lightweight flywheel/clutch
Carbon Fiber shifter and e-brake handle
Carbon fiber door panels and dash
Rear seat delete with storage bins
Hi Fi sound package
39,614 original miles on the chassis
14,500 miles on FULL upgrade by FLM
3.6 engine producing 516 hp/495 ft. lb.
RS 51mm intake valves,Pauter rods, Aasco race springs
K-16 hybrid turbos; 5-bar fuel press reg.
RS oil pump, Turbo S aux oil cooler
Custom Alcantara steering wheel
Custom stainless steel cat-back pipes
Custom ECU tune
Custom Transmission with RS gears
KW Variant 3 adjustable. coilover suspension
Fiske 9″ and 11″x18″ 3 piece wheels
New Michelin PS2 235/40 18 and 315/30 18 tires
Brand new OEM steering rack installed
Comes with FULL documentation of service history

If you have been following the 993 Twin Turbo market you know that a car with this low mileage sells for at least $80-$85,000. I'm offering this car at a fraction of today's market because of the blemish on it's title. ONLY BID IF YOU WANT A "DRIVER CONDITION" CAR WITH MORE POWER THAN THE FACTORY VERSION.

Hold value yes but only to a certain degree say if you put minimal miles on it. Yes you bought the car at a lower value, keep in mind it will always be worth "x" amount less than a clean, accident free comparable. One day when this car say hits 60K plus miles it will take a further hit on the value too.

Selling an accident history car with low miles is much easier than selling one with high miles. This will not be a good investment.

That makes sense and I guess where the 993TT market goes, it goes. I need to learn about the custom transmission and what I do if all that HP wears it out. What is a "front clip"?

By the way beautiful car, I really like the black.

Ouch... This guy has put a heck of a lot of money into this car getting it fixed up. It sounds like it will be a blast and truly hell on wheels. Does this put in the GT2 performance range? I wonder how temperamental it will be? Are the K-16 hybrid turbos known to be durable as a tank?

I originally went looking for a 993TT as a store of value that I can enjoy over the next decade, but now I am looking at this thinking this would be a complete bunch of fun.

With the RS 55mm intake vales and the Pauter Rods with only 14,000 on it does that mean the top end is done?

The hybrids can't speak to depends o. Who did them and if they used the upgraded 996 bearings.

If they replaced valves I'd be surprised if they didn't replace the guides etc

It is ridiculous to say that the day a TT hits 60k it will take a big drop in value. If the car is clean with no accidents the price will be about the same at 59k vs 61k miles. It could actually be argued that over 60k the car is closer to being "fully depreciated" and will actually hold its value as opposed to a 40k car that will slide in value until it hits that fully depreciated price. After all, how many clean no accident TT s do u see trade under $60-65 regardless of miles.....whether it be 60k or 80k miles. Those last 20k miles get to be had essentially "depreciation free".

Well I will say the next major point after 60K miles will be 80K plus, it will impact price IMO.

Even clean no issues, mileage plays a factor here.

You don't want a car with a salvage title unless you were going to make it into a dedicated track car. Always will be a problem to sell and takes a huge hit to value. Just not worth going there at all

Thanks Hal M. I just spoke to the seller. He is a friend of the owner and a very nice guy. I think that's the dilemma the owner is in. Made it a great DE car, now only drives it a 100 or so miles per year. I did not realize a front clip meant the entire front frame was replaced. It sounds like it was the absolutely right thing to do and it was done correctly, but that's a bigger deal than I expected. A $10 to 15M deduct on value due to it not being stock is one thing, but due to it not being stock and the front end being replaced and not being stock is out of my comfort zone.

The seller said a 40M mile stock no story 993TT would be worth $80 to $90M, I think it would be in the mid to high $60's, so maybe I am off.

Someone recently posted their 40k car asking $80k. I thought that was high, but was shouted down by folks on this forum. Prices for everything have been on the rise the past year or so. Accordingly, its hard to pinpoint the market precisely. A 40k car had been mid to upper sixties for a while, but I would agree that it has probably risen of late
