Default Tire valves for 993 TT hollow twist wheels

I remember reading some time back that some tire valves are not suitable for the 993 Turbo original mount hollow twist wheels. I am contemplating buying off Pelican parts a set of Porsche factory valve stem cap/sleeve (part no.000 044 600 00M100), do you know whether these are OK to fit on those wheels?

You must use the factory valves (993 361 073 00) for the hollow spoke wheels; see https://rennlist.com/forums/993-turb...-question.html

FWIW, factory manual states Porsche valves are shorter than standard steel valves. Further, valves should be replaced "after every other tire change or after 3 years at the latest".

The rubber washers can perish with time resulting in leaks - they're not available separately.

Phelix, KM,

Thank you very much for your answers, they are REALLY helpful: first because I was going to order the wrong parts, second because I think that now I know why I have had a leak on my front left wheel for the last 5 years, through 2 tires changes.
I am ordering the correct valves today.
THANKS AGAIN!

I'd like to buy a set as well. Where are you making the purchase, Biturbo?

Hi Bill,

I had to buy from an official Porsche Centre; cost was around $70 for a set of 4.

In 2005, they cost $ 9.50 a piece, so either they went up, or they cost more in Singapore (where I bought them) than in the States. One more question: on the metal ring (refer to the photo in the very useful thread provided by Phelix), is the concave (dished) side facing up, or facing down? It's difficult to tell from the photo. I asked a mechanic at the Porsche Centre where I picked up my valves, but he was not 100% sure, and they had no 993 Turbo in for servicing to check.

This diagram from the shop manual should make it clear.

Thanks again for your help Phelix, the mechanic at the Porsche Centre had guessed it the wrong way, but it did not look quite right; I thought (correctly) that he might be wrong.
