Looking for Tire Recommendations
I have a 1996 Turbo with OEM Bridgestone S02's on it. Car has 30k miles on it and I'm looking to put a new set on. I drive less than 1500 mi per year (I know... I should drive more!). I tend to be an original equipment guy but don't want to go for replacement S02's if there is a better tire. I've heard so-so things about the Bridgestones. Finally is the Tire Rack recommended? Thanks

Tire Rack is good. In fact, they are PCNA's tire distributor for North America. Most dealers pull inventory from Tire Rack (and then charge you about another $100 per tire over TR's price), but they can source from other vendors too. And let's say you need a rush tire for a warranty issue, or need one tire they may be recently "discontinued", or need roadside assistance through PCNA, they would source the tire through the Rack.

Thanks. I thought Tire Rack was probably a good choice but had no idea of the connection with pcna. I suspect I'll go with the. Appreciate the help.

Since your car sees minimal mileage, I'd be more concerned about the "born date" on the tires. Most tires have a 6 year life expectancy before they harden in spite of having lots of tread. I have purchased tires from tire rack that were two years old thereby giving me four years on my garage queen.
I see that tire rack has Bridgstone S02 origional equipment. I check to see how old they are.

The "A" is a later model SO2 and is really a different tire. The Fabspeed is the bypass pipes, lose the muffler weight and gain a really tough sound. I may have the only wife who loves the car for the sound.

I have Michelin PS2's on all my cars (993TT, 996TSCab, Audi RS4-all tuned) for summer/street driving (Michelin PS Cups for the track), and find the PS2's grippy enough in the dry and stable in the wet (including cold rain-of which we get alot in Rochester, NY).

96PorscheTwinTurbo, there is an active Rennlist member here that is also a Tire Rack salesperson. I think his name is Damon. Do a search, or post a new thread.
He can't give you a Rennlist discount, but he can give you great customer service. I recently purchased a set of PS2's from him.
