Default Oil Pressure gauge is stuck

So I noticed that when I start my car the oil pressure gauge jumps up to just above the 5 and stays there. It doen't move at all until I turn the car off.

What could be the problem?

My money is on the sensor, but could possibly be the gauge. My wife's hummer did this and it was the sensor.

+1 sounds like bad gauge, but sending unit can go bad as well

Mine was the same until I replaced the sending unit.

I even bought another gauge to check it.

Unplug the sensor then see what the gauge says

Is the easiest way to remove the gauge with a screwdriver?

Sending unit. Had that issue a few years ago. It's not fun to get to for replacement.
