Wheeler Dealer's Ed China says he is leaving the show - after 135 car fixed!

[Velocity TV says he takes too long so production is too expensive!]

Good for Edd. The show had been drifting more toward the usual US car show lately with less and less of what made WD great.

Television is dead...Unless you like Velocity car-reality tv that goes something like this: shop drama, timing drama, Richard Rawlings "whoo!", more drama, and then BOOM, a shiny car reveal at the end....

If you want to see cool (and smart) automotive content like the original Wheeler/Dealers, you have to look to YOUTUBE! So many cool channels that build, fab, enjoy, etc...

Happy to see Edd on there with a channel. Hope he makes some cool and informative content moving forward!

Funny how he uses his same "acting" style that he employed when he was fixing up the cars to say goodbye to his fans. Nice guy and a great mechanic, but strange he couldn't muster a more authentic persona off-script/off-show. Guess that's why there are so many edits in this piece.

That said, Ed was a nice even balance to Mike's outward goofiness and Wheelers Dealers was one of the better shows on Velocity. Hope it doesn't drift further in to cartoonish land with Ed's replacement.

I wouldn't call that a great TV show, but it was certainly the best "reality" car show out there.

And Edd was why it was good.

WD is now over; as IMHO Edd was the show.
Mike was something I put up with to watch Edd's talents...
Pleasant dreams, WD.

yup. Ever since they moved the show to the US it took a total nosedive. Good for Edd for taking a stand and not chasing the golden goose. While WD still utilized the magic of tv for some hard jobs, it was nice to see that Edd addressed a lot of challenges that we DIYers also face. The pricing bs and Mikes stupid antics were annoying, but Edd made that show.

Oh well, i guess its reruns on youtube and see what Edds up to.

Velocity shows are literally all the same.

The show was definitely biased towards the actual work being done, where at times Mike would drop the car off at the beginning, and then practically disappear till it was time to sell. I liked the focus on the technical detail (although some of it was pretty simple), but as any of these shows, disliked how the profit/loss calculation did not include any of Edd's time!

I am not a regular viewer of it anyways so no loss if they finally cancel it - but I bet the new format will make it look like all the other shows. Too bad.

Note sure if Edd has the chops to do a profitable youtube channel, lets see.

Cheers,

Mike

Agreed.

Especially because he appears to work for free.

My thoughts exactly.
By my calculations Edd was doing all the work and still making less than $10/hour after splitting profits with Mike.

Unreality TV, but he can work on my car anytime too.

I haven't been a fan of most of the TCL, Discovery, Velocity shows. I might like the content but is seems like a 30 min show only has 15 minutes of ACTUAL content, 10 minutes of commercials and then another 5 mins of what really bothers me.

They give you a teaser of whats is coming up after the commercial, show the commercial and then have to tell you AGAIN in 30 sec an update of what you just watched before the commercial. Seriously???

Well..not really.

The money they made wasn't in fixing and selling cars. The money they made was having it televised and being a hit on cable.
