Default Sent My Cans To Fister Today And......

I have been reading about the difference between stage II and III for literally days. I like the fact that the III's are lighter but I'm afraid they make it sound faster than it really is. More bark than bite. For this I'm pretty sure I'm going with II's unless I read something between now and when they get delivered to Darin.

The one question I've not been able to see answered is about the heat shields. I see a lot of them removed. If I remove mine, do I need to step up to ceramic coating? This is just a standard 993 C2 that doesn't go out in the winter or the rain.

Thanks, and Darin has been great to work with.

the understanding around here is that you should run the stock heat shields unless you spring for darins coating.

can't speak to the III's aspect, but the coating is a no brainer.

I've had two sets of Fister I's and I shaved the heat shield tabs off. This after asking Darin's opinion many, many years ago.

No issues as a result.

I see you have a cab too. I have the stage 1 and it sounds great but you wont here anything over 40mph because of the wind top up or down. Not even a high powered radio.

I was thinking I should have gotten a stage 2....the stage 3 is really loud and my not be great as everyday driving or weekends, I think more for track use.

It's always a good idea to have it coated wheatear you have the engine shield or not. It helps run cooler.

Get the coating - they look prettier when you take them out of the Lowes box.

Between the II and III's, I dont think the III's make the car sound "faster", its just a difference preference. And I'll admit its not for everyone. I have III's, love them, if you goose it in a neighborhood in 1st, you will set off some people's alarms, but thats because the tone is lower frequency I think.

BUT, I almost wish I got II's because at some point I would like to install sport cats and x-pipe, which I would not want IIIs for.

Also, I got the coating because its not much more expensive and its always best to keep heat away from the engine bay. I personally expect the coating to do better than the shields from an engineering standpoint.

I know reducing heat in the engine house is important but so far I havnt read anything to justify another 225$ for the coating. Right now I'm stuck on just putting back on the heat shields and spending the money on something more worthwhile like whiskey.

Thanks, I was wondering. I know Ferrari uses ceramic on their exhaust.

But I have to wait an extra week for a coating. Fister is so backed up that the exchange plan is not an option now. I'm up on jacks til the cans get back.
