Default Glass face for Speedo?

I just called North Hollywood Speedo, they say they replace speedo face with acrylic lens, not glass, because of reset **** hole. I thought some members said they got glass? Clarification please. Does anyone make a glass one?
Thanks as always.

I'd like to replace with glass too. The clarity of the other lenses is so much nicer than the plastic.

When I called NH Speedo a few months ago when replacing my broken odometer gear, my understanding was that their supplier quit making the glass version due to problems with the hole. Frankly, my original one still looks great after 20 years so I left it in. I would think an acrylic one will be fine too.

Note: On their website, for their speedo glass, the real glass version is only available for speedos without the pin (hole). The ones with hole are acrylic.

It shouldn't be a problem to have a local shop cut and drill the glass with a waterjet and then temper it, probably cheaper too. I've had it done with 19mm sheets of OptiWhite.

I wonder if there's a noticeable difference in clarity between a brand new arcylic lense vs an aging one? Maybe they cloud with age?

I ordered one about 6 years ago and they sent me one without the hole, then I heard I think from Andreas at the time that they also sell the drilled kind, so I contacted them about that and they sent me the drilled one free of charge.
In the meantime I had successfully drilled the first glass that I still have laying around.
Anyhow, the original acrylic lens is easily scratched with swirl marks from cleaning, so if someone is replacing the gear that would have been a good time to replace. It looks much much better matching the other 4.
