Moving on...
As some may know, I sold my 993 last weekend. The transporter is picking it up early this coming week and my eleven-year 993 saga will be over.
It could go without saying that I've enjoyed the 993 more than any other car I've owned. I drove it 340-350 days a year every year I owned it and not only was it a blast to drive, but it also never left me stranded...Not once.
That said, the car and I just got too old for one another. It with its 20 year-old running gear and me with my 70 year-old running gear gradually became challenges for one another.
I wasn't driving it like it needed to be driven and it didn't provide me with the pleasure I had experienced from it in the past. So, off it goes to a new, younger and more enthusiastic owner down in Texas (I think he may be a Rennlister, but I'll let him introduce himself).
As for me, I just scored a 2014 Cayman with all the goodies necessary to get this old man down the road with comfort, style and all the performance capability I could possibly need. So, all is good.
In addition to being able to drive a great car for eleven years, the other major benefit I received from owning the 993 was my membership in Rennlist. What a great group of people. I can honestly say that had it not been for Rennlist 993 discussion board and its members, I probably would have sold the 993 a long time ago.
Thanks to all who, knowingly or unknowingly, provided me with advice, knowledge, know-how and the confidence to repair and/or diagnose both the common and not-so-common problems inherent in owning a 993. I'll still lurk here...RL is a hard habit to break. But I won't be very active I'm sure
Finally, (And this may sound hypocritical coming from a member who was once put on probation for threatening mayhem...Long story, but the moderator did the right thing) choose your words carefully and be kind to one another. Everyone will be better for it.
Regards,

Stick around. I'm still very active in the Viper community. They are my good friends and after dissembling the car and extensively modifying it, I feel like I am intimately familiar with the platform and can occasionally help out a n00b.
I never got the 'I have X so I can't talk to Y people' thing.

Hey Terry - All the very best!
I'll be certain to check over at the Cayman board from time to time for your mid-engine experience... Gotta say, you're not alone when having an eye towards the Cayman range as a neu daily driver. That is a focused eye BC of the model's neu found 4 cyl architecture.

Congrats on the Cayman. I am a huge fan of the aircooled cars, but have had two Caymans (987s) for daily driving and find them a real pleasure as I am sure you will. Nothing beats effective climate control and the handling of a well powered mid-engine platform like the Cayman. It is SO MUCH MORE car than the 993--but there are things about its construction that will make you yearn for the Porsche that built the 993. When they used to use 12 metal screws to attach the front valence, they now use 5 plastic fasteners, 3 of which are broken off as soon as you drive off the dealer lot. That being said, i'm still a huge fan.
