I installed the H&R complete coil-over kit. It has progressive springs and aluminium bodied struts that look to be made by Bilstein. Provides good control without too harsh a ride and they can be rebuilt by H&R at low cost if needed some time in the future. The complete kit including all four wheel ends ran about $2000.

Did anyone ever really think that a new Porsche OE product would be any other way?
Dang Martin,
You know about such things. Why not just tell your (pal? Pals do not refer pals to over inflated Porsche parts) to get a set of Bilstein HD's and M033 or M030 springs and be done with it.
A pal with a stock 993 has a leaker, wants new suspension. I'll refer him to this string.

I have the original stock suspension that was removed from the car almost 2 decades ago.
I'd be happy to sell my OEM (nearly new) and classic "last of the air-cooled suspension" for a very reasonable price...

If I had a car that I wanted to try this or try that or I generally disrespected Porsche engineering and believed the Porsche brand is nothing more than an hugely overpricing attempt to rip off the public I would take the advice from some of the comments here.
If I respected Porsche engineering and believed there was integrity in the brand and wanted to restore my car to the best street driving experience possible I would buy the re-engineered Porsche suspension and gladly pay the difference.

Not exactly; depends on the car, circumstance and specific item in question. For an Uber low mileage "museum" example, I'd want all original Porsche parts.
