With increasing values of 993 I am concerned that the regular insurance I have via Liberty mutual will not cover the car if it is to totaled (which I certainly hope will never happen). Their estimated value for my 1997 C4S was $22k, which we all know is too low. I checked with hagerty, the don't insure cars less than 25 years old (in MA). What are other people doing for insurance?

I have an agreed-value policy with Leyland-West. They allow up to 6k mi per year, and I can drive it to work up to 2x per week. I'm in CA, I have no idea if they offer similar terms elsewhere.

Heacock is fantastic to deal with. OP save yourself a lot of aggravation and call them. Real people and all are motorheads. They answer the phone and call you back like a real company. My lowly '97 C2 has agreed value of $75k and was easy to obtain.

I had my 993 insured with Hagerty - no 25 year rule that I recall.
I have since switched all insurance to Nationwide Private Client. They also offered an agreed value ($45k) policy at a better rate than Hagerty, so I switched that too. Funny though when they were doing the paperwork, my agent said the car was only worth $8,000. I replied that the transmission was worth more than $8,000. A KBB report satisfied them.
FYI, Nationwide would not cover a Grundy policy under my umbrella as the quote I received was underwritten by a non-rated carrier..

I used Grundy Worldwide.

Talk to your insurance about getting a MA certified appraisal of your car and upping the coverage. I'm also in MA, and worked with a great local appraiser and Safety upped the coverage based on the appraisal. This was a while ago, and I'm in the process of re-doing it as the value went up. They didn't cover me for the full appraisal, but they went up considerably from the cash value (blue book). Let me know if you want the appraiser contact (he's a Porsche guy too!).
I contacted Leeland West based on ads in Panorama, but they don't cover Massachusetts.

I just signed up with Heacock about 1.5 months ago. Very responsive to questions and getting back to me. Don't know what they're going to be like in a claim but I now have agreed-to-value. Mileage cap set up at 6k/year, no track use...and you're not supposed to be using it as a commuter vehicle or to run errands.

See numerous previous posts about insurance via the search function. You will find many detailed threads. In my case, regular State Farm with no restrictions and agreed value with premium at or below he specialty companies. No appraisal needed, just some info from the forums classifieds, eBay, and more recently the Hagerty valuation tool that now covers our cars.

Been with Heacock for years on all models of Porsches 993, 996, 911, they even provide me with my off track race car insurance, all at agreed values.
