PSA: Techron on sale
I had to replace a battery at AutoZone yesterday and found Techron Concentrate on sale for 4.99 ...no coupons. BTW, I was also surprised to see Jectron there too, which was basically same price as Amazon Prime! I scored on all counts!
Just an FYI to the RL brethren. Happy Sunday , all

Dunno? .. "Snake Oil" can be said for many products in the additives segment. .. Subjective at best.
Back in the day say mid-to-late '80's,, Techron had been introduced by the then Western region Porsche Rep for my 944S. Seems the 944's DME architecture of the day had difficulty coping with build-up/deposits on the back of the intake valves.
Once afflicted by severe intake valve deposits, the course of action was either a forced walnut shell strategy to clean the back of intake valves or the traditional invasive strategy that of a head removal procedure in order to clean the intake build-up.. (my 944S never had this intake valve deposit issue - however Techron, as suggested, was used early on in the coupes life, say @ 6k miles)
The suggested Techron practice was to use full strength with a full tank of fuel just before an oil change. The Techron practice took and I've been using a 20oz dose w/full fuel tank before each oil change ever since.....'88.
Snake Oil? I dunno. Man, I've been duped by worse . . . Subjective at best.

I always figured that for the extra $10-$15 a year it can't hurt.

It's an age old discussion. You'll get similar responses with people who dose their fuel with Marvel Mystery Oil or with Kroil Motor Medic. Would be nice to see a disinterested testing firm evaluate the difference each additive actually produces in an engine. Right now, all we generally have is subjective observations.
