Default Pichu Carrera

So the 964 is gone And I'm going to make a little thread about my 96 Arena Red Carrera. (Mostly to keep track of what I do with the car, post pictures etc). Nothing fancy sorry, I'm more into driving and maintaining/fixing things. My dream is to drive it in the winter!

My fav pic so far (also new avatar). Work I'm currently doing, the steering rack was leaking so took it out and redoing the seals!

I like this pic of the steering rack for some reason.

Thank you! The steering rack is back in, no leaks. I learned a few things;

1) Polish the rack! If there is any scratches etc, it's pointless putting it back to leak again.
2) Crack the plastic retainer clips in the rack then pull out the seals (pretty much impossible to do otherwise).
3) Tape the ends of newly polished rack.

The 933 is a bit too quiet, I think I will pull out the mufflers and do the bypass muffler mod (or more extreme, open the muffler up and do some welding). Or just leave the mufflers off and see how loud it is!

Started to work on a loose clamp (on the heater flap), fixed that. Then I removed the passenger muffler, and made a turn down from the cat.

Kitty cat sounds like a LION now!! Total cost $10 (Cad). She is officially MY car now! Put 100+ miles on her yesterday and close to that today. Gonna drive'er till something on him breaks and then fix it and drive it some more!

I got a bit lazy. I left the car on, washed the engine bay, then used 'Always Black' and sprayed it, it basically made the engine bay pop. The intake was already really clean though.

My fan however...

Looks great. I can't tell if your sound material is sagging (which is chronic for all 993s), but if so there is a great solution sold through a member (a plastic pad covering the sagging insulation). Pretty easy DIY and really buttons things up.

Yep that is sagging. On my 60K Mile 964 it was almost all gone so I'm surprised this one is actually in better shape. When I pull the motor one day I will replace it

No need to pull and replace it - it will do it again in no time. Best is to buy the pad cover, I have it myself and looks great. Caled PadKeeper, as seen here: http://porscheforum.com.au/topic/827...93-price-drop/

That's a better idea in the mean time

Took it for a rip! He's roaring like a Lion now. Gotta get in as many miles before it snows (hopefully I have the ***** to drive him instead of parking).

What about the driver side? Can you post a pic of your turn-downs?

I will be doing the LPMM but I want to keep driving the car in the meantime, so one side at a time. It sounds really mean right now, so I might keep it, but it does have a bit of a drone (no muffler will do that!).

I will post a pic of the turn down, it's just temporary so I don't burn my paint on the bumper.
