Many here (including myself) would disagree. The thicker, smaller diameter of the 3 spoke 996 steering wheel is far superior to the 993 wheel. This is not just a visual change but one that translates in how the car feels through the hands of the driver. Also very easy to swap back to original if necessary.

Default IMHO....

1 PSS9 suspension? No, PSS 10, easier to adjust
2 ROW suspension? No, Olde school, 1995 technology
3 Factory 993 turbo wheels? Just stock hollow wheels
4 Fikse 3 piece racing wheels in black? No
5 Stock seats? Put them back in.
6 Leather/Alcatera Recaro's or Sparco's? Stock is just fine
7 RS uprights? No, not needed unless you slam the car.
8 Stock exhaust? That's what I have.
9 Custom sport exhaust with headers and heat? No, possible emissions issues, the CA smog people want OEM exhaust.
10 Built 5k motor with RS cams and Arrow rods? No, emissions issues.
11 Stock 60k motor? Just fine
12 Factory Turbo deck lid? Yes if you add Turbo front bumper
13 Factory 993 deck lid? No
14 Rear Seat delete? No\
14 Rear kiddie seats? No
15 Rear RS carpet kit? No
16 Ruf style small leather air bag steering wheel? Not needed
17 996 leather steering wheel? Yes if you want a smaller diameter wheel, BUT your buyer may want stock
18 993 leather steering wheel? Yes

I pains me to see you take this car apart, I love what you did with it. Why don't you keep it?

A 996 three spoke steering wheel and the rear seat delete would be high on my desirability list. Surprised that people like the stock 993 bus wheel.

I rode the short bus in high skool. It had a nice steering wheel so I like bus steering wheels.

I will say that the stock 993 is big.... and since I am 6'3 I would be open to switching it out for the smaller diameter 996 Wheel. My legs/knees keep getting in the way. Kind of a PITA actually!

I plan to enjoy it while I collect the parts I need. It's gotta go at some point though. Sadly the number of buyers who want it as is is very limited. Based on all the feedback I have a good plan in mind. Not 100% stock Bu just a fewt tasteful mods that have broad appeal.

Thanks for all of your input. It helped a LOT. I now have a pretty good idea of what's needed to appeal to a broad range of buyers. I think the ship has sailed for 100% stock so I don't think I can make that group happy. I can however de-turbo it and install stock exhaust, seats, 993 turbo wheels and 996 steering wheel. I'll keep the PSS9's on as well as the RS sway bars and LWFW. I will also keep the hopped up motor in. The cams are pretty mild. I doubt most would detect the idle difference. The internals make for a pretty bullet proof motor. The turbo wing should have appeal cause it's a OEM part.

In the mean time if any of you NorCal guys want a taste of what I consider to be the ideal 993 turbo let me know. I would be happy to take you for a ride.

Would you disclose the motor upgrades and cams, for example? That is had a turbo? Fine line between being fully honest and trying not to scare away a buyer.

Absolutly! I am sure it would spook some but certainly not all.

Leak-down and compression were perfect during last PPI. I've had oil analyzed once and no strange metels etc.

The last two 993s (one NB C2, one WB 4S) I have direct knowledge on, both with significant mechanical mods returned to stock and with track but no body damage history, sold for 25-25% under what the never-messed-with comp would have brought. One sale was end of last year, other was about 1.5 years ago.

Of course, going back to near Olden Days, Larry Cable's done-everything-to , ~20-30K mile 4S was sold by its then-owner for about $40K. That was a car that had $50-70K thrown at it when practically new.

10: FWIW I have RS cams and passed CA smog with no issues, the tech thought the motor sounded like it was running lean, to which I shrugged my shoulders and "agreed" The point, is it passed, and on throttle, runs like a banshee. IMHO it is a good mod, but needs to be combined with the appropriate fuel mapping (Weiner)

+993. My car was 100% stock when I bought her and I felt the steering wheel was the first thing that needed to go as I found it a bit out of place and not befitting the character of the car. Given it's sheer diameter it obscured visibility (largely instrument cluster) and muted the otherwise sporty character of the car. Literally felt like it belonged in an 80s Caprice Classic.

Now works great as garage art next to my MTech I steering wheel from my E30 M3, each representing a decade of automobile manufacturing (80s/90s - with the 80s being far more sporty!)

Bumping old thread. I managed to find some perfect 993 turbo hollow spoke wheels. I also have near perfect front seats. That should take care of the lions share of the objections. Now I just need to find a 996 steering wheel and install my rear seat delete.

Now the big question is do I keep the turbo setup or convert it back to NA before making another run at selling it?
