LOL
Right, but I can't have both.
Problably this helps: I don't DD the Turbo. I take it for a ride when I need to feel alive. It has 62.000km (about lesa than 40.000mi, I think).
The 993 is from 94 with 120.000km (65.000mi I think).
The top soeed I managed to achieved in the Turbo was 240km/h (120mi). I've never get the road for more.

Time and again the collective wisdom is don't buy these cars solely for an investment. Who really knows what the future holds. That being said let me clear up a few misconceptions that were posted above.
2001 Coupe: 2418
2002 Coupe: 2318
2003 Coupe: 1384
2003 Cab: 482
2004 Coupe: 298
2004 Cab: 1490
2005 Coupe: 186
2005 Cab: 604
This is the total North America production for 996TT; less than the total as compared to the 993's. And while many dislike the aesthetics and build quality, with the Metzger engine it is known to be super reliable. If I were to purchase one strictly for investment purposes (which I wouldn't), I would pay a slight premium for a lower mileage, 6 speed, X50 coupe, MY02-05, in a desirable color combination. The incremental dollar amount you spend today on these desirable options should (with no guarantee) return 5 fivefold in the future.

I have a 997.1TT and a 993NA.
Day and night difference btwn the 2 cars when it comes to driving experience.
In short ... The 997TT is fast as hell after a few upgrades. However, the 993 feel and experience wins hands down. Guys are selling their 997 turbos to get a NA 993.
The 993 is honestly a more enjoyable car to toss around and much better looking. For a weekender car, I would take the 993 over a 996TT.
2 cents.

Everyone who's responded has said the same thing - I will too. I looked at the 996/7tt and the 993s cars and I just could not justify the differences in performance in exchange for owning a hand built, last of its kind Porsche. The 993 in most Porsche people's eyes is the best looking car and a great blend of feel and performance . It's still a fast car- especially by the standards of the day it was built.
993 all day long for me.

I will echo the sentiments expressed here. 996TT is fast but not much fun to drive. It drives much softer, more like a sedan. Whereas 993 may not be as fast off-the-bat, but it is so much fun to drive. It is very firm, like a go-cart. I would go with 993. If you are really looking for speed then go for 993TT, if you can afford it.

I had an 02 Turbo.....like driving a Ferrari from your living room sofa........993 feels more connected and therefore more like a sports driving experience.
Nothing wrong with the turbos,,,they are monsters, but how fast can you go in today's world without threatening "EXCESSIVE SPEED" and therefore having your ride impounded.

I owned a 2004 X50 996 TT. When I first bought the car it definitely didn't have the classic Porsche feel. I ended up installing PSS10s and had the car corner balanced with a more aggressive alignment. It transformed the car and made it feel much more connected like older 911s I have owned. As mentioned above, the turbo is a terrible track car without extensive and expensive mods. I also found the car too powerful for any public roads. Yes, was it fun as hell to shift down and accelerate to insane speeds within seconds when nobody was around? Yes, but if you don't want to go to jail you really can't do that very often. I also thought mine was pretty nice to look at once it was lowered.
So that being said, I now own a 1998 C2S. Not a very fast car but with Bilstein Sports and good sticky tires I find it more rewarding to drive in the curves and most any other places over the turbo.
So to sum it up for , the turbo is fun as hell but not suited for the track and too fast for public roads. The 993 is more connected, beautiful, slower but more rewarding to drive.
This is definitely a first world problem and both cars are great!

I don't know how much more I can add to all the comments, but I have both in the garage now - '95 993 Cab and an '04 996TT X50 Cab - both completely stock. The 996TT we got about three years ago and the 993 a year after that. We just went through the insurance on both and looks like the 993 has gone up more than the 996 since purchase if that helps with your first question. Who knows about the future... The 996 has had to climb out from under the bad press of the NA 996 and the 993 can do no wrong. The truth is more in the middle I think. They are very different cars, of course, but the 996 is a well built, very premium car and still feels very modern. The 993 is still holding over the old-school SC/3.2 look inside, but finally sorted. I actually prefer the 993 inside, but the 996 is another level - leather all over the place, memory seats, power top with no boot cover, four windows, etc. As for driving, the 996 will gobble up speed so fast you really need to be careful. But that sling shot parlor trick that makes the cars around go backward is completely intoxicating. The 993 can't do that... It delivers a more measured experience that successfully bridges the old with the new. It isn't particularly fast (mine isn't), but it feels smaller and more intimate. The 996 makes you giggle, the 993 makes you smile.
I drove the 996 to work on Monday, but I'm not sure if I would drive the 993. It feels more special to me so I try not to expose it to uncaring drivers as much. I like the rear of the 993 more, but I really like the side intakes of the Turbo. The ride in the Turbo is a bit bumpy on our crappy roads where as the 993 is more compliant and less jarring.
Honestly, I don't go tearing around all over the place in whatever I drive. I use the unique features of each car when appropriate and I love them for that special bit.
You say you adore the Turbo... Why is that? Is it the roller-coaster ride? The premium feel? The growl and blow sound from behind? The solid AC? The 993 is different, but it isn't really all that hard to choose. Drive them both, back to back on the same day and whichever gives you the biggest grin is the one you go with. As for investment, the 996TT is on sale and still is. It is a true P-car Turbo experience at half what it cost in the other lines. The 993 has so much love and lore out there. If it can maintain that it will do well. Hard to say
