Question Who is OEM pad supplier to Porsche?

I searched through the archives, but couldn't find out who was the OEM manufacturer for the 993 brake pads. Any idea?

Thanks!

Tom,

Yes, Dan is correct. If you're not going to buy OEM from a dealer, though, make sure you get the Textars and NOT the Jurids. I had the Jurids and didn't care for them at all. I looked for the Textars but had trouble getting anyone to promise me they'd be actual "Textar" pads so I ended up going to the dealer and (IMHO) overpaying. Others here have used, and been pleased, with non-OE pads. I remember Steve W. highly recommending Ferodo (D2000 ??) for the street. I like the OE Textars for the street, but you may want to search for opinions and decide for yourself

Thanks for advice. I was about to buy the Jurids from an independent supplier, and I am glad I didn't! I will just use my PCA coupon at Suncoast to get my pads.

Thanks all!

Tom,

I just recently got the Textar OEM pads from Sunset Porshce in Portland. They also give a very nice discount of the oem price of around 25%. They do have both types and the parts guy I talked with went and had to open the box to see which they were.

I too just ordered a set of pads from Sunset. Very friendly, helpful parts person (Jeff) noted my preference for Textar & said he'd check to be sure that's what I'll get. Paperwork at my office, but I think pricing was $98F & $64R. Shipping was just $10.

Pagid & Textar (& Mintex) are siblings - all are manufactured by the same German company: TMD Friction.

I always use Autozone pads for the street <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" /> . They work very well, are very inexpensive, available for NB and Big Red cars, and have a LIFETIME WARRANTY.....wink wink, nudge nudge.....

I've had good luck with Autozone "carbon metallic" pads on several cars. I've never tried them on the track though. The material seem similar to Mercedes OEM Texstar pads.
