Fister vs. Fab Speed
Would like better exhaust sound for my stock 993C4S.... considering the Fister Stage 2 or Fab Speed cats while retaining stock mufflers... Thoughts /comment ?
Thanks

If you are only after an exhaust note, just do the Fisters because they are cheaper and a lot easier to install. If you are after the claimed performance gains and want to go all in, the cats are an interesting option. Theres a good thread from this past year about the Fabspeed cats after Rennlist organized a group buy.
Does TX have any SMOG / Air Quality regulation?

I have Fister l and Fabspeed X Pipe/200 cell cats. Just did a 600 + mile road trip ripping through the mountains and most of it with the windows open. Can't get much better than this combo IMO.

That would be me....If you just want sound, get the FD Motorsports Stage III, or at least II..the 200 cell sport cats will reduce the sound a bit....Here is what I need to understand. The factory cats are 400 cell...the Fabspeed are 200 cell each side...how do they differ? Isn't 200 + 200 = 400?
If you just want HP, ditch the cats...I got 267 to the rear wheels with X pipe, cat bypass pipes and Maxflows. See enclosed dyno sheet.

Oregon has a lot of things right and a ton of things wrong. Smog is not one of them. I'm pretty sure my 993 being cat-less wouldnt hurt a caterpiller, but its the way it is. Maybe someday I'll be able to trade my Fister III's for something that boosts performance and not destroy my eardrums. Thanks JB 911!

This may not be possible...

Boosting the performance of a 993 via the exhaust is not that easy. Our cars come with headers for all intents and purposes, albeit they are self-contained within the heater boxes. I did have good luck on a dyno sans cats and Maxflows, 267 HP, not too shabby!
But I have a weekend at Laguna Seca coming up, with a 90 dB limit, so I have put back the stock cat and stock muffs with wide ovals.
The 267 HP was nice, but running in a weight to HP class, sometimes too much HP is a disadvantage, it make one add weight to meet the weight to HP minimum. Now this may be an outlier, but I'll take it, I dyno'd the car with stock cat, and Maxflows, got 260 HP.

Ilko sent me down this road and Martin gave me a push. So glad I did.
Best combo ever!

Glad I could be a little part in the improvement plan. Ilko is the one who hooked me up with Fabspeed Maxflows. These cars, especially those of us fellow Rennlisters, just keep getting better and better.

I'm also running with the Fabspeed X-over Sport Cats and just recently swapped out the Fister I's for Fister II's. The Fister II's sound just a bit louder and angrier, and weigh a whole 10 lbs. less!
