Chicago Area Electrical Specialist
I have a stalling issue which I am convinced is an electrical issue rather than mechanical. I'd like to get a recommendation on a tech in the Chicago area who can diagnostically solve the issue. We've been fighting this for a year with no success.

Brian has looked at the car and had no recommendations other than to drive it.

Ernie - I had a "stutter" issue with my 993 within the last year. Typically, within the first 5-10 minutes of driving, the car would "stutter" and throw a CEL. I don't know if your "stall" is a worse case of my "stutter" but I thought I would respond with my experience.
It seemed to me to be a fuel delivery issue. I first tried a fuel additive. No luck. My current tech is Sol at Perfect Power, Buffalo Grove, IL. The fault code pointed to an injector. Initially the CPU which controls the injectors was suspected (the board was found to be cracked for some unknown reason). The CPU was replaced with a refurbished one. That did not resolve the problem. Head scratching time. Then, one of the techs observed an impedance issue within the engine harness. Apparently, somewhere within the engine harness was a frayed, cracked wire that controlled the injector. Sol implemented an effective work-around (the engine harness was not replaced - that would have been $$ I was told) and the car has been fine since.
So, since you mentioned "stall" with "electrical" I thought I would offer my experience.

Check out Chicago Performance and Tuning (CPT) in Melrose Park. Al and his team really know their stuff and have a lot of experience with air cooled Porsche's.
