Default Tires for Turbo Twist wheels

Hi everyone.

I am in the process of installing a set of 18" Solid Spoke Turbo Twist wheels onto my NB 993 C4 and wanted to know what tires sizes you all would recommend.

Here are the specs on the wheels:

Front Wheels P/N 993.362.134.06 7.5x18 ET 50
Rear Wheels P/N 993.362.140.04 10x18 ET65

I know the recommended tire sizes are as follows:

Front 225/40 R18
Rear 265/35 R18

My question is as follows:

What is the largest tire that I can run front and rear without any rubbing issues specifically in the front at full lock? From what I have researched many people are running a 285/30 R18 tire in the rear. Please chime in experts!

Thanks.

Why do you want wider tires? What kind of tires? Purpose?

Stick with 225/265 combo.

Edit: 285 is oem for WB

Typically I like a slightly wider tire so that the sidewall adds a bit of protection against curb rashing on my newly refinished wheels.

I am leaning towards a set of Bridgestone Pole Position S04's and the sole purpose for this will be Sunday driving with the wife and kid..

S04s have nice ridges to protect the rim but you have to be careful not matter what, the sidewall is so short.

225 on 7.5 will be good. I run 225 on 8 (oem) rim and there is some tire sticking out.

I can't comment on the rear for you, but I'd think 275 should fit no problem.

S04 are good tires btw, I've been running them for 3 years, wet, dry, track. But I'll prolly give sumi III a try (can't beat the price) as I now have track tires.

Edit: you can actually check section width of tires on tirerack (or just convert 275 to inches - 10.8) and compare to rim width. But keep in mind 10 inch rims is really 11 inches wide. So even with 275 the tires will be flush with rim lip.

Thanks for the info..I have used and recommended S04's in the past and have had good experiences with them. I also like the Michelin Super Sports as well.

The Sumitomos are a great tire for the price but they get greasy real quick and have horrible wet traction.

I've had Sumi's for a year now (8k miles) and the only greasiness I've experienced was on a 110 degree day and seemed to improve substantially when tire pressure was reduced. Also, right after purchase, I did a major drive from the PNW to Big Sur and honestly, I was driving in monsoons for a full day (along the coast road) and I thought the performance was great for a high performance summer tire at any price point....never mind at the low price point it is. Admittedly, this was with brand new tires. On another note the longevity of the rears seems to better than any other tire I've ever had on a 911, I'm accustomed to 10k miles max, these seem to be heading for 14k. Personally, I think the Sumis are a great choice for normal, enthusiastic street use and based on my experience so far, I would recommend highly. Cheers

MY NB 1995 is lowered to euro ride height and these tire sizes are fine with 8 & 10 x 18" MY02 or hollow spoke twist wheels. Solid spoke would be the same.

Front 225/40 R18
Rear 285/35 R18
