My car is equipped with the factory carbon fiber kit. It gives it a great look that saved thousands over adding it later. I quickly realized that hundred dollar upgrades that made my 993-unique was/is not happening on the Italian side! Everything for these is expensive! I will be staying stock with the exception of a new stereo system. The unit is hard to control, sounds terrible, and the factory back up camera that came standard on the 06 is grainy and marginal at best.

I do have to take a brief time out to apologize for the grammatical and spelling errors in my posts. I am doing this on my Android phone next to the pool. The stress of owning this thing caused me to book a vacation to Puerto Vallarta to relax ( Yes, I am a smart a--:-) Typing on this phone is maddening.

So.....when you get back from Cervezas and Pico de Gallo are you going to keep the yellow bucket? or consider another esoteric, cult-ish best Porsche of all time 993?

Man, is life ever full of bumps in the road, and an occasional blind-side t-bone! Seems like you've got a good handle on it and are doing well now ...not that this gorgeous exotic isn't helping!

Enjoy in the best of health and happiness!!!

Oh, BTW, WOW!!! "Drool worthy" is decidedly inadequate to describe your new toy.

I am keeping it but may add to the collection. I still look for p-cars daily. A sick obsession I suppose. The Lamborghini is a raw vehicle. The power is amazing, the look is that of a super model, but driving is a different experience. There is refinement with the 993. Steering input is precise and the ride is elegant even with the Bilsteins. The Lamborghini lacks sophisticated comfort. The doors do not shut like a 993. I miss the precise click of the lock.engagement. My most memorable part of my 993 was the precision to detail. I have buddies that are high end body guys and they love the p-cars for body panel fit and placement! The Lamborghini is stunning and the panels are tight but they lack the civility of the 993. They are more of a sassy monster. It begs you to mess with it but you will pay the price of comfort. The leather in these cars is amazing though. Thick, smooth, durable and smells amazing!

The interior is designed well and instrumentation is easily manipulated at high speeds. The heating and cooling system is dual zone plus mine has heated seats which is nice. The main toggle switches remind me of a fighter jet with quick simple pulls. There are two buttons used to put the top up and down with a cycle time of approx 20 seconds. The entire process with the top cycle is amazing. The rear carbon fiber molded lid slides back and raises allowing the top to collapse with the help of electric and hydraulic actuators from my understanding. The process is sexy! Once it is down the vehicle is a whole other animal. It changes the experience and visibility is so much better. The one complaint I have is the main header above the windshield is low. I find myself looking over it at stoplights in order to see the light. I prefer it with the top down for no other reason but visibility.

These cars are hard to see out of at my size! I am going to have to remove the window tint because it is way too dark. I took it out for a food run the other night and I was scared shi-less backing it out of the spot in front of the pick up entrance. I simply could not see. The backup camera has limited field of view and grainy at the edges. I have the passenger get out for safety. Little effort for common sense backing comfort. I am a bigger guy so I can not complain too much about cabin space. There is one cup holder but it is behind the elbow which is a pain! The seats sit really low so there is no storage space there. I would give the interior an 8 out of 10 on comfort and design but I bought the thing for the exterior and boy does it shine!

I only drove once a Lambo Performante LP570? I can't remember the exact number, it was a blast to drive it, however the only thing that sucked big time IMO was the SINGLE CLUTCH SYSTEM...oh lord! That killed the car for me. Other than that is an amazing machine.

I don't know if yours is single or the updated double clutch system? Anyways, stunning Lambo you have!

The reason I chose the 06 is it has several benefits over the prior 04 and 05 models. The transmission was allegedly improved using a "hockey puck" style clutch. Not sure what it meant but the mechanic said it was a big benefit. It also has a new exhaust giving 20 more hp, back up camera was standard, and a few other small improvements. The clutch takes some learning and testing. I always shift manually using the "sport mode". I down shift to 2nd but allow the e gear to take it from there. Reverse in these cars is a touchy subject. Some say reverse will destroy these clutches if you must back up hills or steep inclines. I watch the backing. Not sure of the validity. The other concern is gradually accelerating from a dead stop. Many say to give it firm acceleration and commit. A "soft" start is said to give unnecessary clutch wear. Again this is highly debated. I just drive the thing and enjoy it. Associated costs will follow. Expect it right??

When I look at the Porsche and the Lamborghini in terms of ownership I still hold a strong appreciation for Porches and I always will! The changes in my life over the last year with my wife having an affair were painful but my kids being by my side and being so strong for me let me know life was going to be ok. I decided to focus on the positives in life and live a dream. The dream I chose with my kids was an impractical and expensive exotic. We are having fun with it for now as it is a fun experience we may never repeat. I have changed a lot about my mind set the last year. My health has improved drastically (I have lost almost 50 lbs) and I spend a lot of time de-stressing at the gym and pondering life. I was looking for something different to start over.

That being said I realize the 993 is in my opinion the best vehicle ever produced by Porsche. I love the ride quality, durability, performance and look of the 993. The Lamborghini is no doubt a blast to drive but I do not feel the connection I had with my 993. The soul of a Gallardo is in the V10 power plant. The performance is amazing but I really don't relax driving it. I am always scanning for the next bone head that is going to slam on his/her brakes to snap a photo at the most inopportune time.

I recently met a beautiful woman in a divorce support group. I laugh because she has young twins. I don't think I could fit two dirty diapers in the frunk of this car. (It is seriously worthless in terms of cargo!) She appreciates my appreciation for what I call "rolling art" and gets my passion for vehicles. Some hang art on their walls, some display it in fancy cabinets. I prefer to put mine on the streets and drive them. Price tags and MSRPs really mean little. The enjoyment of a Porsche vs a Lamborghini are two different styles of art. One is expensive and some don't want to drive them. The other is affordable to some and a ton of fun to drive. Do I regret buying a Lamborghini.....no. Will I own a 993 again? I guarantee it!

They do pretty well which is why I decided to buy one. I figured even if I lost $10000 over a couple years I can say I did it. The 6 speed manuals are really holding strong but are hard to find. A beautiful 2005 showed up on eBay the last couple of days for $94900 which in my opinion is a steal! I looked at the R8 but the appearance is too tame for me. I think a 993 is better looking!

The other thing I forgot to mention is I love giving kids rides! They love the opportunity to actually touch one and freak when you let them ride in one. I spent my career as a police motorcycle officer so I have been accustomed to kids approaching me. I enjoy their excitement and passion and it sure feels great seeing the smiles on their faces. Parents wish they could tag along! There is satisfaction in not being a pompous owner that speaks to no-one. I love waving at stop lights and giving the engine a rev when asked. These are for my fun and others! If you have one of these exotics let others feel the excitement. Most people will never drive in a Porsche, Ferrari, etc. My passion started when I was a young boy. A local police officer stopped me on a moped for speeding. We talked and he let me off for driving without a license. He inspired me to be a police officer and gave me the opportunity to see the world from a different perspective. He was a car fanatic and I got the"bug" from him. Take your passion and pass it on because this stuff is fun!! If anyone is in Denver and wants a ride PM me. I would love to meet up. If anyone is pondering a purchase like this I say go for it. Just understand it is a different animal!

It is great to read your comparisons and about the major changes in your life. I am curious if it is the same Gallardo Opo had!

Enjoy your vacation.
