Subscribed. I notice that a catalytic converter is being used in your testing. I'm curious to find out what the emission performance is for this engine. Porsche switched to water cooled, I believe, because of emissions and if this 4L can be designed with good emission levels then why did Porsche change? Could it have been about weight issues too? Just curious.

All testing is being conducted with a catalytic converter and street gas so as to best emulate street conditions.

New camshafts in. 443.5 HP. Disappointing to everyone. Engineers working on several ideas including yet another set of camshafts. Do not want to increase RPM above 7400 on this engine. Am sure, we will reach at least 445 HP nevertheless. 4-valve version should go above 8500.

Curious why 7400 RPM limit, it seems that 440 HP+ is excellent given that pumping capacity limit, particularly with CATs.

Primarily because above that we would have to use different pistons and that is not worth it at this point.

Good news. Latest dyno run of Cartridge 4 liter, 2-valve, normally aspirated, air cooled engine on street gasoline and with a catalytic converter produced 455 HP and 453 Nm of torque.

CONGRATS! PAG needs to hire you and your team for engine design / development.

The news gets better. As we look at the engine, we are finding a few things that will gain, perhaps, one or two more HP.

The next step is to dismantle the entire motor, look for any problem areas or parts and, if any, correct. Thereafter, an entire new engine will be built for endurance dyno testing. Testing should be completed by the end of summer.

Assuming endurance runs show no problems, I will determine in what spec (level of lightness through the use of, e.g., carbon fiber and titanium) a complete engine and Bosch ECU can be sold and at what price.

Latest engine news is that a couple of cylinders were running a bit hot so we added some additional cooling which solved that problem but, as a result, the 2-valve, air cooled, normally aspirated engine is down to 451 HP on street gas and with a catalytic converter.

Some have asked what control unit will be used for the 2-valve and the 4-valve engines. The answer as it stands now is Bosch MS 6.2.
