Wow. That is a fabulous piece of work, especially for a 993 newbie like me.

Thanks!

Here's a suggestion, put this thing in one thread instead of posting a new one every three weeks

Nice work, Andy!

A sticky is when a website administrator "sticks" the thread to the top of the list, hence it stays there no matter how many other threads get posts.

Real Tech sources include: Porsche 993 Essential Companion by Adrian Streather, the Factory Manual (can be found online), P-car.com/diy and the countless of tech treads and DIYs posted by respected 993 Gurus (MikeJ, ChrisWalrod, lorenfb, Steve Weiner, bruce7, race911, etc, etc)

Newbs, use this with great caution!

Andy,

Thank you for taking the time to prepare this documentation and sharing it with other Rennlisters who - like myself - consult all available reference information before undertaking a maintenance, repair or upgrade project on my 993.

For what is worth, I take all forum advice with the grain of salt, but that is not to say that some obscure tidbit of information found on some random thread did not prove valuable at one time or another.

I'm guessing you have more reasons to warrant your conclusions than the OP's predilection for Walmart. I change the oil on all my cars myself, just as a matter of preference. Twice I took the 4S to a shop, one a dealer the other time, you guessed it Walmart.

Felt comfortable with the dealer so I just left the car and returned later in the afternoon to get it. 2 weeks later I am dripping oil. Aluminium bolt on the overflow tank was not torqued properly.
