Default Tyres for 993 GT2

Hello, I've always had track tyres on my GT2 but as I'm going at the end of the month to the Nurburgring I would like to fit road tyres as the weather is so unpredictable

What are my best options?

Standard measures are 235 / 40 ZR18 and 285 / 35 ZR18 but I can't find any good option with these!

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!

I'll leave the tire advice to others, but will request you post a few pics of the GT2.

I have Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Position, which in US comes in those sizes.
It's very good in wet and decent in dry. But you gotta take 8-10psi out of them for the track compared to factory recommendations. In cold temps it still works, too.

Here is what Tire Rack shows available, if you are looking for a road tire I would vote for Michelin Pilot Super Sport.

Many thanks, sadly not available here on these measures!

I love the Super Sport, had it on the CGT and these arein my view the best road tyres available. Unfortunately looks like the rears are not available anymore in both 285/40/18 or 295/40/18 (system showing not even in back order so who knows when these will be produced again)

Managed to find Michelin Pilot Sport 2 but it's a tyre that I really dislike and I would not order unless the only alternative!

Thanks a lot anyone for the inputs!

Ah…so you are not looking for 285 / 35 ZR18 in the rear?

I think you could fit 295 or 305/30's in the rear. Remember "E Aho Laula", wider is better!
:-)

I currently have Michelin Cup 2s and the rear is 295/30/18...but there is no Super Sport that size (at least here) and there is no 305 on 18s

Greetings from the 'ring!

I am running Kumho V70A Hard in 265/35/18 front and 305/30/18 rear on my RSR so i'd assume you can fit them under your GT2 flairs. VERY good tire for the Nordschleife!

So what were you on when I was behind you, near your gaff?

Are you able to drop to 225 fronts without dialing in too much oversteer? What width are the actual rims?

Mytyres is showing 225/40 and 295/35 (12 available) in SuperSport, but Mytyres don't always tell the truth on stock levels.

I was running Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2's in 235/40/18 & 285/30/18 on the Nürburgring during the Scuderia Hanseat drivers course in the beginning of September and they worked great even when it was very wet.
Porsche are using them as a road tyre on the 991 GT 3 as are Ferrari on the 458 speciale.
