Question Odd rear turn signal issue

Just picked up a 96 C2 and been sorting out the few issues it has. One is with the right rear (passenger side) turn signal. Basically, left rear works perfectly, but the right rear doesn't flash (if the lights are off) or stays on permanently (if the lights are on). Using the signal in either state results in the fast-flashing turn signal in front and on the gauges indicating a light is out.

For reference, the car has the Euro rears but that doesn't seem to be an issue on the left.

Has anybody seen anything like this before? If so, how did you solve it? I bought a Bergvill LED kit thinking it might have something to do with the relay/power issue that sometimes appears with Euro lights on the American cars, but now I'm not sure that will help.

Any ideas?

Thanks

The fronts left works fine? I was thinking it might have something to do with the feature whereby you set the signal to left when engine off and the left signals stay on.

Entire left side works fine. Right front flashes but quickly (as one would expect if the right rear was out). Nothing stays on once the car is off.

First thing I would do is swapping the left bulb with the right one and see it the issue is from the bulb.

Sounds similar to an issue I described here but opposite corners. https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...nal-issue.html

I haven't had a chance to follow up on ToreB's suggestion but it sounds like you should try the same thing once you've tried what I did.

On US cars, only the front turn signals shall light with low intensity when the lights are on. The rear turn signals are single filament 1156 bulbs, and shall not glow when the lights are on. If it's not a defective bulb, (as suggested above) I guess you have a wiring problem or corrosion in the rear turn signal bulb holder.
Cheers,
Tore

Replace all the bulbs as a short in one of the bulbs may be the issue.

Thanks for all the replies. Based on what you guys have said, I think I have a solid plan of action:

1. Switch rear turn signals to check bulb for defects; if that doesn't work...
2. Replace all bulbs to check for other shorts (plus wanted to change bulbs anyway); if that doesn't work...
3. Check wiring at right rear turn signal for corrosion/wiring issue

Thanks again, will report back on results
