I have the same CCU issue and am interested in a sub-$400(!) option so am following this thread. My issue is now expanded from squeeky noice behind the dash to Fuse 1 (25A) blowing constantly. Is there a known link between the CCU fan squeek and Fuse 1 blowing?

Steven, this has probably nothing to do with your CCU, you have one or two faulty main blower motors. The bearings wear out, often squeaks and will eventually stop the fan, blowing fuse 1.
This can easily be checked by manually moving the fan cage through the pollen filter openings.

I was 99% sure it was the blower motors but the squeak was similar to what people described for the CCU
Well, looks like I solved my $400 CCU fan issue but I see the Blower Fans are about $1,000 each. Ouch.
I didn't see from your HVAC instructions how to access the motors via the Pollen filter opening but I'll look again. I did read a lot about how hard it is to reach the RHS blower. From your reply it sounds like I should be able to reach both from the Pollen filter opening?
Thanks very much,

Tore,
Your HVAC writeup is amazing. I have been using it to work through my blower fan issues. In you section titled, Front interior fans, you list the part numbers for the left and right fan. I noticed that you have the same number listed for both. In my research I found out that they have different part numbers:
Left Side Blower Fan: 964-572-015-01
Right Side Blower Fan: 964-572-016-01
Thanks again for this great resource,

If you want a brand-new fan motor for the CCU sensor instead of something from a junked car.....
Mercedes-Benz P/N 1638203442 is based on the same Denso fan motor. You need to remove the new motor from the "housing", and install it inside the original Porsche "housing". Also need to re-terminate the electrical connections to the back of the CCU. It took me about 40 minutes to do this, and have a brand-new fan. The new fan is available from Mercedes dealers for ~$67.

I just replaced mine with the OEM unit from Sunset--I think it was about $240. Seems like a silly price for a small plastic fan and bracket--but that is Porsche for you. Super simple install thanks Rennlist and the DIY threads/pictures.
I have the old intermittently squeaky fan and bracket sitting on my workbench if someone wants it. Just PM me with your address and I'll drop in the mail.

The CCU suction fan is most all cases can be repaired by simply cleaning and
oiling the unit. There's no need to waste money on another unit when
a simple repair process will suffice.

i tried that and it didn't work... the OP tried it and it didn't work... and I'm sure most of the people tried it before spending money on a fan.
