Default The latest on exhaust tips circa Aug 2015?

Hi folks --- what's the latest on exhaust tip options for NB 993s circa August 2015?

The junk aftermarket exhaust tips my car came with are --- junk. The flange is cut at this weird angle and no amount of fiddling will get the clamps to clamp them on securely. I'm going to bin them.

In an ideal world, I'd like the "angle slash cut" exhaust tips with "straight, not rolled lips." In other words, I'd like the old FDM ones --- that's right --- the ones that are not made anymore ---- so I guess that rules that out ---

Old FDM tips

Given that these are no longer available, what are the best options these days?

Many thanks.

I love my Big Ovals, but yes, they ain't cheap. Lucky for me, they came with the car.

I was very close to replacing the mufflers with Dansk, not realizing that in fact I have the RSR modified mufflers and the big ovals.

So I would have paid a ton of money for a downgrade, and would have thrown those perfect exhausts away.

Luckily, the deep growl of the car made me investigate, and I realized the error of my ways before it was too late... )))

Ebay Specials? These from the UK look nice -- non-rolled edge --- but --- I'm nervous? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-911-...item5af200907d
Nervous? About what? The entrance fee makes the gamble kinda worth while IMHO...You could always email the seller and ask questions first, and I'm sure its not the first and last set to be sold.
See what I mean...(10 available / 14 sold)

If you dont like em, list them back on ebay...

Would you be interested in going in together on the eBay tips? They come as a set of 4 for whatever reason. I live on the Peninsula so am local to you.

Why does FDM no longer make them anyone know? Maybe if enough of us bug them, they can start up another run? I'd be down for a NB set as well.

The eBay ad is really strange. It claims it comes at a set of four, but if you look at it closely it lists 3 diff dimensions for a set of four? Let's figure this out with the seller and see what he/she says. At some point I might just go for the safe route and get the porsche pieces which are the following for the NB - 993 111 981 00 and 993 111 982 00, even though they are an absurd price.

Length of 2.7 Inches (70 mm) (Shortest side).
Length of 5.0 inches (127mm) (Longest Side)
Diameter 5 Inches (123 mm).

Length of 3 Inches (78 mm) (Shortest side).
Length of 4.5 inches (114mm) (Longest Side)
Diameter 5 Inches (123 mm).

Length of 2.75 Inches (70 mm) (Shortest side).
Length of 4.75 inches (120mm) (Longest Side)
Diameter 5 Inches (123 mm).

I think they lost their supplier.

Outlandish option: use stock NB tips. Seriously, have them polished bright or chromed. They look great (look right-on, IMHO) and fit perfectly, natch. While so many are looking for aftermarket cool, think of "factory" as an option

FWIW, I don't have a pic of only the tips, but here the tips look great to me

I have oem wide ovals for my C4S - the bottoms are beat up - considered having them refinished but would need some welding - so I bought a set of wide oval knock offs on e bay- wide body figment is super hard to find - but they are pretty good! Only cost a couple hundred bucks and they fit perfectly. The taper is not the same, but for the novice you'd never know and I have the originals to go with the car

The wide ovals were one of the very few options originally on my car. It was nice to get a set of the FD's (thanks to rl-er Blue TTop) and get them back on. Jlaa, I might have to bite the bullet and pay the crazy oem price if I were you. The look is great and it is hopefully a 1x expense.

PS I'm good at spending other peoples money

JB, ever the reliable pal you are - Custom polarized LCD Becker screens, custom silk screened switches, and now this!
My mother in law is staying with us for a week. That's a good excuse to spend some moolah. :-)

Did I miss out on the custom polarized LCD Becker screens? Are they still available? My head unit is a TrafficPro...
