Besides the enjoyment I feel when driving the 993, I've been getting more attention on the streets lately and I like that as well, . In the last month I have received 3 stop light offers to buy the car. No amount discussed as my response has been a quick, "not interested". This morning a Trooper pulls up in his unmarked and we have a 15min discussion about my car and the Wheeler Dealer Targa repair episode. Feels good to have a car that is appreciated by many. It's good to know the State Troopers patrol my commuter parking lot, or maybe its not a good thing there is a need for Trooper drive byes in my commuter lot.

I have noticed an increasing appreciation for the older 911's as well and by all different age groups. Some of this is becoming a problem in southern CA where air cooled Porsches are becoming theft targets. I have never been so nervous about having my car stolen in all these years of Porsche ownership.

While the pundits talk about car culture dying (youth glued to phones while gladly taking public transportation, etc.), I've never gotten as much attention in 35 years of 911 ownership as I do now with the 996 Turbo. Person On The Street does not believe it's a 13 year old car. And it's not just a Bay Area thing, as I've put 18K miles on it all through CA + AZ/WA/OR (like I was doing 20 years ago in my SC before I had to grow up). Only similar experiences were when I was what appeared to be a fish out of water 21-22 year old with my faux 930 in the early '80s.

The 993 is aging like a fine wine. Design is timeless. I like to take mine to the tuner car shows, to class the place up.

Car attention is a very regional thing. In some places you'll stand out in a 993, in others a 458 in a not too flashy color won't attract any attention.

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of getting attention for the car you're in but at least with the 993 it often is positive attention. My M3 seems to draw out the negative stereotypes more often than not (and I drive very sedately and politely).

in my experience P-Cars do not garner positive attention. I don't want any attention, try on an old American muscle car, or even something like a new corvette, you will experience positive attention. Too much negative stigma w P-Car brand which is why I'd rather lay low.

My car is a hot mess while I restore it. It's a slow process but I drive it a lot and it always gets a thumbs up or comments at the gas station. It's almost 20 years old now and people ask all sorts of questions about it, and it's in below average condition. It's going to be a long restoration process, but that's life. I've never driven such a fun car.... Ever.

As I was pulling out of a parking lot, a toddler in his mother's arms, maybe 3 years old, said, "Porsche." I complimented her on his correct pronunciation. She said he knows the names of all the cars.

It is a timeless look. Thats probably why they have kept their value so well. Beautiful cars.

My 993tt is an attention magnet. People role windows down and take pictures here in florida. Can never stop and fill up gas without someone coming up to you. Most people are very nice but it can still be annoying.

Ordering a new 2017 mustang gt350 that will be my DD. A little bit concerned about the amount of attention that car will get.

Eric,
The little kid that knows the car names reminds of my grandson, the kid shown in my avatar, who knew the car names at that age. It was foretelling his hunger for learning. He started Cal State at age 12, and is now finishing his fourth year. (Yes, I'm a proud grandpa.)

I live in an area where modern Porsches, Maseratis, Ferraris, etc. are far from uncommon, but my 993 always gets positive attention. People of all ages are drawn to it, and I think it's a combination of the car and the color.

The look is really tmeless, even here in LaLa land people appreciate it and from all ages. Since the RS kit, exhaust, paint etc, people are amazed it's 20 years old.

I had parked my 95 Cab safely away from other cars in a parking lot recently. When I returned to it there was a teen on his bicycle admiring it from all angles at a respectful distance. He new it was a 993, he knew it was air cooled and talked of the great sound they produce. Great to see such a polite young fan of our cars!
