Some good advice above.
This happened to me - it was the DME Relay.
Driving along a highway, slowing for a Toll Booth, Suddenly all lights on, engine stalled - Dead - then No Instruments - car Died ! Very Suddenly!
Let it cool doewn 40 minutes then it re-started.
Parked it overnight and re-started next day. Ok so far so good. Drove to a restaurant. Ate bunch. came out No Start. Dead.
If u do not already have, You "should" have a spare DME with you - in the car.
At this point, If not I suggest go buy one and remove the existing and plug the new one in its place.
I guess call 1 800 Porsche to find parts can be obtained near where you are? call Your mechanic>?
Do Not throw the Old DME Relay away, not just yet.
The relays are under the bonnet. 2 Clips to remove cover. Very easy replacement.
Pull out the old, Gently straight up and replace with the New.
If u r Unfamiliar, open your Owners manual. It will show u where everything is located and what to look for.
And yes, in the meantime, open engine cover to ensure your belts are intact with good tension.
Call your mechanic - then call AAA - ONLY use a Flat Bed Tow Truck "ONLY a Flatbed"
Its a Horrible experience when being let down on the road.
Remember, these are Great Reliable cars. Just a small maintenance item.
Good Luck!
