So I got the PPI and the leak down back from the shop.
All cylinders 3 to 4 % except 3 and 1 which where both 5%.

The only flaws.
one of the motor mounts was slightly leaking
Horn doesn't work
Timing chain cover and housing has slow leak
Something hit the front left jack point and pushed it up a bit

Has a newer clutch
Bilstein coilovers pss9
Some after market exhaust GHL
Spark plugs looked good

I'll be picking it up this weekend

Looks pretty good then. No surprise that the motor mounts are shot. Consider upgrading them to RS spec or an aftermarket option like WEVO or Rennline. It's a pretty simple installation too.

I guess I should replace both then?
Solid is ok?
I've had pretty stiff race cars in the past so I'm not afraid of vibration or stiffness

Thanks

With stiffer motor mounts you may want to get engine carrier reinforcement depending on where/how you are looking to drive.

I'd give the Rennline mounts a serious look since you can tune their stiffness easily by using one of the three different inserts that they include.

They became available only recently, so they weren't an option for me. That said, I'm quite happy with my RS mounts. Just don't go full race spec solid mounts if you are using this car on the street.

The horn thing is super common- search it- new basket for under a hundred bucks and 30 minutes later it's good as new

I second looking into WEVO mounts (here). Solid aftermarket mounts increase responsiveness by fixing the engine location. The WEVO Semi-Solid Engine Mount is the first non-solid aftermarket engine mount developed specifically for Porsche 911 applications. They have a lot of great reviews.

I have RS mounts and the car definitely feels crisper....how a Porsche should feel.

^^^Most important post of the thread!
Welcome to the mayhem! You've found a nice new home (RL)...oh, yes, "home"...you'll be spending a lot of time here. hahaha!

If you can do your own work, owning a 993 is just a fun hobby. If you need a mechanic for everything, you are going to bleed money (which some can afford to do) or neglect some of the smaller things the car needs. These are older cars and need some TLC, so I was glad to see this post by you. Start making a list of everything you want to work on, and little by little (over years for me...) you'll knock them off the list. Sounds like this car is lucky to have found you!

My random comments on various things:
>Pass seat in amazing shape
Leatherique - will make any seat buttery soft, plenty of info here on RL, your driver's seat can be the same as passenger (well, nearly)

That rough idle might be cleaning the ISV (Idle Stability Valve) or cap/rotor/plugs/plugwires. Just did the latter and it was well worth it...car runs much better. Oh, and i had RC Engineering recondition my injectors (probably a huge part of the improvement in how she runs)

Motor mounts: I went Porsche 993 RS, which are solid rubber and it gave some increase in interior noise. I didn't care. ANY new mount will tighten up the car, even new OE stock mounts.

Timing chain leak: DIY but PITA. let it be unless it really bothers you, or evokes thoughts of the EXXON Valdez...

Jack point: These are a known issue. they can be fixed. They seem to get bent when the car is lifted poorly. Probably nothing "hit it" as you suspected.

It idles rough. then you find it smoothing out during acceleration till redline.
275 hp. Feels like 400 in my m3
I love these things
I've been drinking
But still
^^^^hahahaha Yes, these cars will drive to you drink....and sometimes its just because your buddies are over in the garage and you're working on cars!

I have a rough idle?
Did I miss something?

Thanks for all the positive words. I feel better now for buying this. I think this might be the last car my wife lets me buy. For a while
