George,
Sorry to hear the sad story about your friend and the 993 and house/garage. I realized after seeing this post that you have been MIA. You are one of the kindest and most helpful people here on Rennlist and I have benefited from your posts many times. I hope you return soon.

once you hit the bottom the only way is up.
Thank you for all knowledge sharing over the years. Your posts come up often when I search for whatever I'm interested in 993.

George,
I'm very sorry to see what happened, and also for the loss of your good friend. I wish you all the best moving forward and hope to see you back in a 993 one day. Your contributions to Rennlist have inspired me for many years.
As an aside, I came home earlier this year and found the trash can in my shop completely engulfed in fire. If I had had come home 10 minutes later, the garage, the 993 and my wife's A4 would have been destroyed. Along with a ridiculous amount of tools. My neighbor and I ran right into the smoke-filled garage and succeeded in putting the fire out.
Way too close for comfort and I get chills when I look at the smoke damage in the shop.

What do you think started the fire - what were you putting in the trash can?
To the OP, a couple of awful years, I'm sorry for you. I like to think of the George Harrison song: "All Things Must Pass" .

As I said to a friend, I really did not mean to be emotional in this thread, THEN, each and every message really touched me deeply.
Receiving THANK U's from rennlisters I do not remember, as well, makes me want to participate even more here.
My mom used to tell me that a lot of people knew me, not because of my knowledge, but because I explain a lot. I am sure she is right,
and I have no credit to take on this forum. It always happened that I was interested in every thread, to exerce my hobby, and by luck, reached common denominators eventually?
Anyway to cut explaining short, I sum every bit of reactivating my membership in one phrase, THANK YOU, each and every single one of you...

George, terribly sorry to hear of both your losses, especially your friend who of course can never be replaced.
Your forum posts have always been tremendously helpful to me (and I'm sure many others) through many DIYs. Rest assured you have loads of good karma built up that will eventually come back to you in some way.
Hang in there!

Ton ami, les cafes, tes samedis ensembles avec la voiture, le travail, la joie.
Tu l'as vécu. Ceci fera toujours partie de ta vie. La prochaine étape commence. Doucement.

Dear George, I often wondered why you were not on the 993 board. Now I know and you have my sincere sympathy with the loss of your friend and your 993.
All I can say is that if you ever visit Cape Town you are welcome to drive my car. I'm sure that you will be in your own 993 someday.
So good to have you back here and look forward to seeing your great knowledge being shared again.
All the best for the future
Trevor
