RUF 993 BTR Convension
Hi ,
I own a '95 Porsche 993 Carrera 2 (non-varioram) with 6-speed manual gearbox and would be interested to know if it is possible to upgrade it to RUF 993 BTR.
I did a search and found 2 option for more performance :
1) TPC supercharger kit for $12K including intercooler (water-air)
2) Promotive turbo kit stage 1
What about the RUF 993 BTR ???
Do they sell the engine upgrade as a kit ?
I think it would need the following :
Engine Upgrade with RUF KKK Turbo, RUF Intercooler, RUF Mahle pistons, RUF Camshafts, a free-flowing RUF exhaust system, higher-flowing Fuel Injectors, a new engine wiring harness, and a RUF Bosch Motronic Engine Control System
Could a good Porsche mechanic install this ???
Thanks !!!
MD

MD,
I "believe", (please check me on this) that Ruf will not sell an engine kit, but will, provided they still have these parts, do the engine conversion at their facility. You should call or email Ruf to get the actual details. Please report back with your findings.

Last fall I spoke with TechArt about backordering their CT3 supercharger kit. I was told that the parts are not on stock for quite a few years and they need to discuss the possibility of remanufacturing with their engineering department. Several calls, e-mails and nine months later I still got no words from them about this matter. Altough I made myself clear that I am ready to pay them upfront, I suspect that unless You send them a bianco check they won´t move a finger. My guess is the same problem will be with RUF as well...
However there are a few more options in Europe:
clubsport.nl seem to be a good bunch that offer supercharging solutions up to 600 hp, however they proved to be a little hard to deal with through phone and e-mails. If You are local to them it might change the situation quite a bit.
I also had talks with redtek.co.uk , they are supposed to be one of the best in EU for N/A builds, however they were open to blueprint a custom supercharger solution for me. I canceled the build with them just because I wanted a little bit more power.
Thanks to advice of Juha G. I am now scheduling a twinturbo build with t-t-p.de , so far so good, I will report the results here on rennlist soon-ish.
