Default Weird Problem Please Help

Hello,

I am having a weird issue with my car and was wondering if you guys can help me solve it. I get this grinding feeling/noise when the car is drive very slowly and when going reverse. The CV joints were removed and rebuilt, but the problem still exists. When the car is being driven above 20mph the grinding seems to go away.

The car is a 1996 C2 with 170k miles.

Thank you, Justin

Have you checked your brake system? Is anything rubbing?

I did a brake job a few weeks ago and didn't see any signs of rubbing. I ruled out the brakes due to the fact that the grinding goes away when the car is driven faster.

Hanging e-brake shoes?

Try driving the car, start from cold. Do this in an area where you can drive a few minutes without hitting the brakes. (Warehouse district on Sunday?) Get out and feel the 4 discs, maybe see if one is warm.

Another, easier way, spray water on all 4 discs, wait 1 hour. Start the car, and drive off slowly. come to a stop without using the brakes. get out and look at the rust for shiny streaks, showing a dragging pad.

All in theory, have not tried this.

Is the grinding noise noticeable under load in a higher gear (going slow)? That is the noise you get when you have a single mass flywheel.

Hanging e-brake shoes?
+1 ^

p.s. did you do the cv joint rebuild, and did you personally inspect the cages and *****? Or, was this performed by a 3rd party?
