Any input on the "intake" noise I'm hearing?

Ahh I see thanks guess they changed that. But most likely brake and oil. Can't think of much other fluids.

Pics will come once I get the car to a detail shop. But will do a wash myself and get the 800 miles worth of bugs off the car. Maybe some prelim pics. I want the swirls out.

The chain cover gaskets can be replaced with the engine in place. I just did this last month. While not as easy as the valve cover gaskets, there is no reason to remove the engine.

Car looks great! What are your thoughts about the change from the 964 to the 993?

Really? I swear I read somewhere only certain bolts and washers could be replaced on the chain covers without dropping the engine, and not the whole cover kit.

To access the chain covers, I removed: mufflers, catalytic convertor, crossover tube, engine tin, engine carrier, crank pulley, and A/C compressor bracket.

Andreas, thanks for the additional info. Good to know it can be done without dropping the engine out of the car entirely. Since I likely won't be DIYing this one, I suspect my mechanic would just insist on dropping the whole engine. I'm not rushing into this repair anyhow and will likely wait for until it's time for a top end and/or clutch job.

Sorry for not replying and etc but this app sucks. Need to get on a computer to reply. But I did bring the car in for service and should be picking the car up later today.

In for oil change, possibly brake fluid, tranny fluid, look over the car, and the "noise" I'm hearing is only at 4-5k rpm with the ac on. With the ac off no noise. My shop mechanic was stumped by it and said he would look into it.

Thank you guys/gals? for the comments . Maybe more pics to come once I get everything sorted. IMO minor things besides that damn noise.

I do notice a difference in cabin noise/sound when using the AC. I've just presumed it was sound resonating through the AC piping that changes the pitch/tone of engine noise coming into the cabin.

GL sorting out these minor nits!

Yea I noticed small noises but the noise I'm concerned about is a deeper noise coming from the rear left. Went on a drive with my mechanic and he was stumped. He said he's never heard that noise before. He has an 98 c2s himself and there's about three different 993s in the two recent times I was at his shop. I think I can cross off it being engine and tranny since only happens with the ac on for some reason.

I'll see today what's the damage. Thanks should be fine. Need to put a jack pad back on too...

Thank you! Sometimes the car is fairly clean, sometimes it's filthy.
