Default Fister III vs Fabspeed Supercup Exhaust system

Hello,

I purchased my 993TT from my Father In Law about 1 year ago; the car came with an Andial Sport Exhaust mufflers along with other great upgrades done by Andial in Santa Ana, CA back in 2001...The exhaust is not loud enough, and I am considering the Fabspeed Supercup or the Fister III; do u guys have any feedback on either muffler system as far as drone, loudness, etc.? Thanks guys!

I'm not familiar with what Andial would have installed but please realize that the turbos themselves act to quiet exhaust.

On my tt the muffler cans have been removed altogether and just turbo tips have been installed (common mod). It is louder at idle but quiets down at revs due to the turbos quieting down the exhaust.

You might want to try this route before you do anything else, but then I'd be hesitant to undo anything Andial did.

Also, you might get better answers/response in the 993 turbo forum.

Regards,

.

If you're on the 993 Rennlister page on Facebook, I posted a quick video of my 993 turbo with Fabspeed sport cat x-pipe and supercup mufflers a few weeks back. It's pretty loud but not nearly as loud as it would be on an NA car. I can tell you that with the x-pipe and stock mufflers, it was more quiet than stock, the supercups make a big difference.

The Fabspeeds are no mufflers, so you can basically reproduce that sound by simply removing your mufflers. I found they do create a drone or resonance at certain rpms but I do have modified cats.

Fisters (they only have model for Turbos) on the other hand create no drone, but they might not be loud enough esp if you find the Andial too quiet already.

Thank you all for your input; I guess I will try "no mufflers", and/or the Fabspeed mufflers set up...Hope for a louder sound than my Andial's! Of course I will save the Andial mufflers just in case the wife objects to the "louder noise"!

My 96' NB came with Supercups. It's a curved pipe that broadcasts the engine sound. At first I liked them but found my ears ringing after driving--even short drives were causing hearing damage. So I sold them.

I bought Fabspeed Maxflos. Mistake. Pretty mufflers but too quiet for me. So I had them converted to Fister IIIs. Sound is now perfect but I am still reaching for ear plugs after being out on track all day.

This is a fact. Same experience - whether or not you like their tone, they are definitely too loud for the ears of the driver.

Cheers

Matt
