Interesting...Never seen or heard of a 96 US C4S, but admittedly, I haven't seen it all yet.

My understanding is, Mr. Hertz is "here" in the US (Florida), so his statement leads me to believe he is referring to the US market, when he says "here".

I understand the reference to ROW markets.

With all the items discussed above, I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the vehicle had been re-painted. Check closely for over-spray in the door jambs, "frunk" and engine compartment. If such is the case, find out why. Body damage? Also, no mention of engine condition. Compression, leak-down numbers?

According to the Excellence magazine U.S. 993 sales chart, you are correct about the C2S, but 1,091 C4Ss were sold in 1996.

Correct. I know of at least one 96 C4S.

apparently this is a factory rs kit? Is it easy to fit or revert to the standard one?

carpet screws?

easy fix?

hatch was not a hatch thankfully, just a stick on pad for the phone

doors were all very solid. rear spoiler and the roof worked, the paint was consistant. apart from the bodge job with the carpet fixings and the indicators I could not really fault it, generally in excellent shape. my only thought was maybe I should hang on for a coupe..

There are many 1996 c4s cars out there. This car is definitely not an S of any type. Not only were they not available until 96 and 97 for the c2s they never came in a cab.

This car looks like a rebuilt assembly - lots of mods- some non omen as pointed out. I would avoid this car.

That car has a hodgepodge of body add-ons. The front chin spoiler is from the Aerokit 1 while the side skirts are from the RS aerokit. The RS chin spoilers angle up at the rear on the side unlike the Aerokit 1 spoilers on this car which are level.

I believe the RS side skirts are normally held in place by clips that have a tendency to break but are fairly easy to remove. If the previous owner used some other method the skirts, like glue, then all bets are off.

The front skirts should be easy to remove and replaced with stock because I think that they are bolted on.

Thank you everyone, so after all your comments I have decided not to take the cab any further. Yesterday I viewed a '97 targa with 75000km, it was a great sound which was a very loud but still sounded purposeful.. I think it must have some sports exhaust I also noticed the throttle was very very sensitive with a stiff clutch, reverse was not easy. It's a manual conversion and the garage wants 598000hkd which is a lot..

Both cars (second not so sure) appear to not have the door handles black gaskets installed which would point at a full respray to me plus some engine bay stickers are missing on the cab. The Targa is definitely the better of the 2 from an aesthetical stand point and the turbo bumper is a big plus.

This car looks much better- not sure what's going on with the bumper pilling out- but the turbo bumper and clear corners and scoops are nice! I can see the gaskets on the door handles

Agree, the targa looks to be a better candidate, but I'm not sure I'd spend that kind of money for a manual conversion. BTW, make sure the top works. Wind noise intrusion can be annoying at speed, and targa top repair can get costly.
