Driver and Pass Door Sound Pads Warning
During the winter wax routine I always put a coat of wax on the bottom of the doors. There are water drain slots in the bottom of the door and I'd noticed that some of the sound deadening pad had fallen off and was loose in the bottom of the door. I could see it looking up into the drain slots. I didn't think too much about it at the time.....fast forward.....
This week I had a drivers door lock actuator fail so I took the drivers door apart. I found ALL of the OEM sound deadening material had fallen off and was curled up and laying in the bottom of the door cavity. This is a bad situation, as this material is very porous and has the consistency of old cardboard. It was actually damp and leaving it there was an invitation to corrosion.
I pulled the pass side door apart next and the sound deadening material was the same.
I cleaned up and vacuumed out both door cavities and there was zero rust on both sides. I replaced the sound deadening with Dynamat (great stuff!!) and sprayed a coat of Waxoyl in the door bases just in case.
Just thought I'd give everyone a warning to check this. My car is a 40,000 mile garage queen so it has to be a common problem. The Porsche sound deadening material is just awful and cheap stuff and should be replaced.
Some crappy photos......

Pags,
It's just a step by step nothing fancy or too complicated.

You'll have to peel back the plastic vapor barrier about 1/2 way. Go slow so you don't rip it.
I would suggest doing both doors and replacing the door lock actuators as they will fail sooner or later. Easy to do once the door interior is off.
1 - # 928-624-211-00 Element is what the door lock actuator is called. Same for both RH and LH. $83.00 ea from Suncoast.
I used the Dynamat Xtreme 10435 12" x 36" x 0.067" Thick Self-Adhesive Sound Deadener.

Oops, I read that your pass side sound deadening "gave up". I'd do both sides in any case and see if the sound deadening is falling apart like my car.

Pags,
Glad to help. I noticed when I pulled the door trim off that the screws and washers that are shown on the DIY were pretty punky. There are the fasteners that go around the carpeted area.
If you order the actuators get a handful of these screws. Part numbers below. They are cheap.
12 - # 900-145-026-07 Tapping Screw
12 - # 999-591-103-17 Protection Washer
No other parts really needed except the Dynamat.
